He had more natural talent than Cristiano in my opinion. Cristiano however had an insane work ethic and he elevated himself to a godly level whilst Rooney was left in his dust.

It's a tail we have seen often. A player being supremely talented yet not having the discipline or drive.

All the best players have variety to their game. They then utilise those attributes to stay on top of their game at various stages in life.

Rooney was like Michael Owen ie one trick pony based on pace. Once that goes so do they. What a trick whilst it lasted

And even when rooney was quicker he wasn't that quick. Just had a mixture of power and a bit of speed. Rarely played on the shoulder and out ran defenders

Rooney was above average in most things, not particularly world class at one thing.

When Ronny and Tevez was here, I think he's was like a much slower Kun.

Watched the Rooney 250 last night. Most of the goals in his earlier days at united were incredible. Pace , vision, touch, skill he had it all!
