not really relevant to anything but what the hell
10. AC Milan
At the very bottom of the top 10 is AC Milan, who can very much be considered a fallen giant following their slump over the past few years. In the past three seasons they have finished in 8th, 10th and 7th in Serie A and the fact their squad is no longer packed with global superstars has had a huge detriment on the amount of shirts they are selling. It currently stands at 650,000
9. Paris Saint-Germain
Next up is PSG. Since the influx of money from Qatar Sports Investments and the arrival of several big-name players, PSG have been on an upwards spiral and they have won Ligue One four times on the trot. In terms of their number of shorts sold, they have flogged 685,000.
8. Liverpool
They haven't been recognised in football's elite for a number of years now but Liverpool are still in the top 10 as far as shirts are concerned. They are believed to have sold 705,000 worldwide. Their star man Philippe Coutinho is in the top eight for worldwide shirt sales.
7. Juventus
Juventus have been the dominant force in Italy for the past five seasons - a period in which they have won the Serie A title every year. Unsurprisingly, they are the leading club in Italy for shirt sales with 850,000.
6. Arsenal
Arsenal's 2016/17 shirt sales numbers are past the one million park, currently standing at 1.225 million - which is also the same number of views Arsenal Fan TV get on meltdown videos after another dismal defeat. In Mesut Ozil, Arsenal have the player with the fifth highest shirt sales worldwide
5. Bayern Munich
The German giants have sold 1.5 million shirts this season in total, cementing their place as the biggest club in Germany.
4. Chelsea
Premier League leaders Chelsea are fourth in the football shirt worldwide sales rankings, with 1.65 million shirts sold. Roman will like those numbers a lot.
3. FC Barcelona
Just short of 2 million shirt sales, Barcelona's figures currently stand on 1.98m. Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez = goals and shirt sales. Lionel Messi is the top footballer in the world for shirt sales, with his compatriot Neymar five places behind in sixth.
2. Real Madrid
Real Madrid absolutely love shirt sales. The base the majority of their signings on how many shirts they will sell, with the majority of their 'Galactico' signings orientated around how marketable the player was. Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and co. are doing well in the shirt sales department, with the Champions League and Club World Cup winners selling 2.29m worldwide.
1. Manchester United
Manchester United's summer business is proving fruitful in terms of shirt sales as the Red Devils are at the cream of the crop. They sold 2,850,000 in the last year and clearly the big-money signing of Paul Pogba and the shrewd capture of Zlatan Ibrahimovic is paying dividends off the pitch, even if the duo have yet to propel United to the top four as of yet. Pogba is in third in the shirt selling department, while Ibrahimovic slightly behind him in fourth.

^^ I don't agree with the much bigger historically remark at all.
If we are going by the ultimately useless yardstick of European cups. You have to include all European competitions- UEFA and Cup Winner’s Cups (of which Juve have four)are not as prestigious as the Champion’s League, but you don’t enter a competition to lose it..
How long does history hold? Juve have 32 Serie As and counting plus who can forget that Juventus team between 93-98 that made five European finals (some record) and that spanking of Milan 6-1 in 97. Amazing Juventus only worked away with one CL.
Domestically, Juventus have the far bigger fan base in Italy.
Anyway, the 'biggest club' is just one of those nonsensical things.

If you add in the other European trophies, I believe the gap widens in Milan's favour.
They still have a much larger fan base than Juve internationally despite Juve's recent successes, can boast two of the greatest club sides in football history (including one quite widely recognised as *the* best ever), and have certainly had far more 'household name' players. They are a global sporting icon.
Plus, as far as I am aware, unlike Juve they've never secretly doped their own players without their consent or been relegated as a result of an uncurbed and endemic culture of foul play running through the club.

OP, where is City now on the shirt sales, surely top 20?
I'm surprised some of their boys aren't protesting this thread for that reason, surely they're a big club, right?

''Plus, as far as I am aware, unlike Juve they've never secretly doped their own players without their consent or been relegated as a result of an uncurbed and endemic culture of foul play running through the club.''
I am guessing you are not au fait with the 2006 scandal. Yes, Juventus were recipients of the strongest arms of the law but Milan were just as guilty and only after a series of blackmails, appeals and blatant conflict of interests were Milan deducted 30 points 2005–06 Serie A Championship and one home game behind closed doors.
CL 2006/07 particularly stuck in the craw as Milan won it after they were originally ejected from the competition in the first place.
My point is as any seasoned observer in the game would tell you, there was a similar 'uncurbed and endemic culture of foul play running through the club' of Milan as there was Juventus.
As for the larger fan base. Domestically, no competition, Juventus. Internationally, i'd wager by any Metric Milan don't have a larger fan base and possibly Juventus even do now or it is 'not far larger' as you opine.
If you tally the other European cups, Milan have 9 European wins (7 EC, 2 CWC) and have a further 5 final apperances (4 EC, 1 CWC). Juventus have 6 European wins (2 EC, 1 CWC, 3 UC) and a further 7 final appearances (5 EC, 1 UC). So nowhere near the gap you claim.
If we are going by the CL (or equivalent), Liverpool 'are far bigger than Manchester United' which i would deem a nonsense.
Just to see how nonsensical that metric is, a few years ago FIFA ranked Milan as the most successful club side ever, ahead of Real Madrid , by virtue of the greater number of "international" football competitions Milan have won even though most of them are not the top prize that Real have won.
PS
That Milan side of 88-90 were majestic. Juve of the mid 90s should have matched them IMO but were perennial chokers.

Red Cog
I've read plenty on Calciopoli, from the initiation of the investigation through the appeals processes, and the recent allegations, which suggest the club might not have learned its lessons.
Initially, Milan weren't censured relatively nearly as heavily as Juve, Fior, Reggina, et al., and during the appeals process, Juventus were the only club demonstrated to have gained favourable results, due to the extent of their manipulations.
As far as I'm concerned, some of those involved (not just at Juve) should have spent years behind bars, Moggi included. He's revealed himself to be an unashamed and manipulative liar, and a disgrace to both Italian football and professional sport.

Hear Hear. Though, that is justice in Italy.

We have won the same number of European cups as Inter and one more than Forrest and Benfica, yet we are the biggest club in the world. I think this just goes to show that we should stop trying to win trophies and focus on what is important, sales and marketing. Real Madrid can win another 5 CL trophies in the next 5 years and still be behind us because Wang Dong in China chose a Pogba shirt over a Ramos one thanks to our marketing department. We need to spend big in the next transfer window on the best marketing talent out there.

biting satire, and ironically seems to sum Woodwards Utd up perfectly.
