Oh yeeeeeeesssss

Goal line technology confirmed for the football league

Now wasn't that easy ......

We once beat Watford home and away, lost to them when it mattered, in the play off final. I can see the shoe being on the other foot in our case.

"So they can replay the '66' cup final and people here'll stop getting on an Irish mans back about that goal!"

I recall seeing a computerized analysis of the TV footage of that, where they tried to determine if it went in or not and still could not get it precise enough to determine if it really crossed the line 100% as required by the Laws of the Game.

Which proves that computers are fallible and will never dominate man!

No, it just proves that tv coverage was lousy back in those days!!

OP

You say it's easy but it's really not. Do you think teams like Burton Albion voted for it? I doubt it. What do you think their thoughts are on having to ensure that they have the physical infrastructure to host the required setup for the system and to fund the setting up and maintenance of it? If I recall, at least some cameras are used from a certain height.

Small teams that come up from League One, teams like Burton Albion, Yeovil etc. who get the odd season in the Championship once a blue moon won't be happy with it. They won't be able to implement a rule that says a club has to implement it within 3 seasons of promotion, like some other rules as it will be required that all 24 clubs have the facilities for GLT. I can't imagine teams of the stature of Burton Albion will be happy about funding it for a one-off season in the Championship.

No, GLT will be in the Championship only within the Football League.

I double checked, GLT does use cameras from high vantage points. This provides obvious issues with some League One and Two stadium's but also actually, on occasion, with some Championship stadiums.
