View from the game.....

Thought I would post this as we are waiting to fly back to sunny Leicester. Having just read through all of the comments made during and after the game I will add a view from being there last night.

Firstly what a great place to visit and a good old fashioned ground where the atmosphere generated by both sets of supporters inside the ground was amazing. Hats off to the Sevilla fans who are vocal, passionate and the 12th man for their team. But then for the approximate 4000 that we took, wow cooking awesome. Never stopped singing and supporting the team, and for those few that cajoled locals to buy them some tickets yesterday in the Sevilla end, I hope it was worth it.

Onto the game and it was a typical performance of 2 halves, we were obviously set up to absorb pressure and defend solidly as a team in the first half. Subdue their crowd and frustrate them, this worked to a certain degree, due to good luck, bad finishing, Kasper playing a worldy game and our whole team being incredibly disciplined with the formation.
A couple of points though, Morgan???? WTF was that challenge all about?
And I have read a lot of anti Musa stuff on here so far but the one thing i will say is that in the first half his defensive support for Simpson was good, better than Albrightons for Fuchs in that first half. But going forward Musa is just pace and nothing else, and you could see their defence were wary of our pace from the start.

Second half was so much better, right from the kick off we had more tempo, positivity, desire while still being regimented in our formation but when their second goal went in we didn't let our heads drop. For all the build up being people predicting a cricket score and that include people on here the players and the supporters picked ourselves up and carried on being combative and winning most second balls. And to see us rewarded with the Vardy away goal was just sheer jubilation in the crowd.....

Its another loss but I day its an honourable loss to the team that are above Barca and are giving Real Madrid a run for their money in La Liga. After seeing them live they are a damn good side, comfortable on the ball and incisive attacks. Great team, good crowd, great place and good result for us.

Bring on the second leg.

Glad you enjoyed it, DDDD, and obviously great to have something to bring back to the King Power. However, the match must have looked very different live to the one I saw on TV. I simply don't recognise the Musa you describe - ball-watching and clueless, particularly for Sevilla's opening goal, and I thought Morgan's penalty was a justifiable action because Sevilla were queuing up to score anyway. His teammates made a mess of it for the attacker to get into that position in the first place.

I thought also Sevilla bottled it a bit last night - they were thwarted in the first half when they should have been away into the distance and then their defence started throwing in odd mistakes. It looked to me like the saw the finish line and panicked. Hopefully we can use that to our advantage in the second leg: Keep it 0-0 for long enough and they might just panic again late on.

Thanks DDDD - good to get a perspective from someone there.

On TV, Musa looked poor, and was slated by the pundits for his lack of defending. That whilst Albrighton looked to be covering his full back well!!

Musa should only be seen as back up to Vardy in my view. He just can't use his pace to good effect out wise and in O'Neil's words, hasn't got a defensive bone in his body!!

Second half we looked good. Winning second balls and pressing as a team. This is what we need to do more of. Forget anything else and take that second half performance in to the league.

If we play like that against the lower teams, we have a chance.

Ndidi looks absolute class.

DD looks like his head has gone. He's still the one man I would take out on current form. We're carrying him.

DD got the assist? The problem is he's playing too deep this season. We also looked a lot better against Swansea when he started playing in their half. We need the team pressing together so he's further forward when we win the ball. We've got to find a way to get him playing further forward.

DDDD yeah I concur about Musa too, he was shockingly bad mate.

I thought their crowd were excellent too, I couldn't really hear us which is testament to the noise they made but what I liked was how much they whistled when we had a bit of possession which intensified as we got closer to goal. Seeing as they're going to have most of the ball at the KP we should whistle at them every time they have it.

Who the hell is Doris?

Doris is responsible for us just landing at Birmingham, when in fact we were due in Stansted 2 hours ago!!!!

We even got a wheel on the ground at Stansted but far too windy to land safely.

Would have been worse if we got battered last night.

Any landing you can walk away from is a good one DDDD

Yes Nev, a large number of City fans on the flight. Fortunately we haven't got a vehicle to collect from Stansted like a few others.

DDDD - I was there last night and everybody round me and I spoke to later thought Musa was absolute pants, great relief when he came off. Did you not see their first goal? He was shockingly bad for that one.

Nuneaton
Yeah I completely agree, but I was just playing devils advocate that there were times when he tracked back in support of Simpson and that should be mentioned, but in no way was I saying that he had a good game.

What did you think of the stadium and their fans?
