Nowhere to hide now

After spending most of the season not putting in the effort and not putting in the yards required of any Premier League footballer, the Leicester City players have now had their excuse removed from them. Until now, they have been hiding behind the manager as he has defended them. Perhaps he should have been tougher; we'll never know.

But if they are seen not to be justifying themselves in the next couple of matches, I have a feeling there will be hell to pay by the way of atmosphere at the King Power stadium. Whether people agree or disagree with the decision to remove Ranieri, I get the sense that almost everyone blames the players for what they've seen - and indeed not seen - this season. It's time for them all to show real character, or things could get even worse.

No one a fickle or hypocritical as Football fans.

Little point in singing for Ranieri, I didn't want him sacked but he's now gone, history.

We need to back the players, club and the new manager when he arrives. Anything less and we're helping a descent to the Championship.

Dunge what are your thoughts on King not celebrating Vardy's goal?

I'm not an advocate for booing either but this game is going to be on a knife edge. The players will have to perform to avoid a backlash and early in the game too. We have to be out of the blocks and get the crowd on side from kick off, if they don't it will go south.

Another thing to add to the potentially toxic atmosphere on Monday - we will probably be in the bottom 3 and, quite feasibly, be bottom of the table before the match. I personally think some of the players will get it in the neck and it could be a very awkward evening.

Dung i agree i won't boo them but i will yell at them if they are either inept or don't put a shift in and won't be giving standing ovations for a while yet.

I agree with OP. There is no chance they'll up their game in the league games. It is abundantly obvious to me that the players feel there's no way to better what they did last season. Once they lost their willpower ie after losing a few games and obviously having lost Kante - it was just a question of them strolling through the rest of the season and focusing their individual efforts in the champions league. Vardy & Mahrez were invincible but surely they are dreaming of a lucrative contract in a different team or in europe somewhere.

I genuinely can't think of any manager that will come in with that belief and charisma to get them fighting again.

CofE - It's difficult to tell for sure; is it the exact moment or does the editing just make it look that way? It's probably accurate to a degree though because of how subdued the celebrations were on the pitch.

My reading of it is that the players simply couldn't find it within themselves to treat the goal as that important. They didn't celebrate together, or perhaps didn't trust each other to celebrate together - it might even feel embarrassing to start celebrating only for your teammates to look at you as if to say "what are you getting so worked up about"? Essentially, there's so little responsibility being taken out there that nobody even took responsibility to start the goal celebration!

What it all tells me is that morale through the whole squad is through the floor, but little more than that other than supposition.

Released from the shackles of this awful Season so far, I predict ( once we get Liverpool out the way ) an upturn in our Season and a possible 10-14th place finish.

Liverpool will probably be a home defeat but the fans need to be very careful because if they turn on the players then they are only hurting the club they claim to love. It will send us down for sure and they will have had a part to play. Would be terrible for the club
