You've lets us down again.

Wtf is going on, if we lose against Reading Lamberts 17 game run in the league will be worse than Dean Saunders run. We also have the worst home record in the league with 9 defeats.

Not only did they let us down on the pitch last night they let us down off it too with Hause and Graham being disciplined by the club for a yet unknown infringement.

Why did Lambert only make one substitution last night?

I cannot remember a club breaking their transfer record twice in one season and being poorer for it.

I would imagine that if we hadn't have had the cup run there would be shouts for Lamberts head right now, although I think he needs time and to ship out the mediocre players we have and to bring in his own players and make the team his own.

Last night was awful...again, all huff and puff and only one moment of quality, the likes of Stearman, Edwards, Coady, Bod, Saville are not of the standard we need, Costa isn't the same since he signed permanently too. They have about one decent game in 5 and people think they are world beaters.

It just isn't good enough.

What is with this hoofball all of a sudden, get it down on the ground ffs.

There is no doubt a clear out is needed starting with Thelwell and Edwards.

What's a "huff and puff player"? I feel like I'm out of touch with modern terminology. Is it a player you don't think is good enough to be a professional?

I agree with GB's post about MM's title winning side. Some knock it, but wouldn't we love to have that expertise back in right now? I do believe fans were entertained when we won the title.

Didn't see this the other day but good to hear, posted by WS10 the guy who does the excellent match reviews.

''Went down to the training ground today. Not many first team players training, most of the ones who played on Saturday jogged a couple of laps of the field and went in. But, Zyro was there. He was training with Tony Daley, with Dicko, and although it was mainly sprinting work he was doing, he did a few shooting drills at the end, and looked sharp. When I asked him when he was going to be back, he smiled and said "soon".

makes me wonder why most of the same players were also able to have us up in 7th place the year before last.

no I don't think history will repeat itself perton, I think we will finish around 18th this year and be much better next season having brought in four or five men including at least one striker who will score 15-20 goals. would love to see history repeat itself next season tho, if that history is MM's title winning side.

Not the same players at all.

No Sako, Afobe, Macdonald or a firing dicko.

You say we need 4 or 5 players including a top goal scorer, if we do sign them who will they replace, because when people put names forward you castigate them. Plus there is a real possibility Costa will be gone.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
kmac was quite poor once we moved up from div 3, IMO. but I agree that sako and afobe were both better than current players in our first XI. dicko clearly is the same player, just not playing anywhere near as well.

just to jog memories, from the season we finished 7th here are some of the appearances stats...

ikeme - 33
doherty 26 starts, 7 on as sub (33 total)
edwards 32 starts, 9 on as sub (41 total)
stearman 38 starts, 4 on as sub (42 total)
batth 44 starts (44 total)
price 20 starts, 3 on as sub (23 total)
iorfa 20 starts (20 total)
dicko 30 starts, 7 on as sub (37 total)

so when I said most of the same players, it seems I was right?

afobe played 21 games that year, 2 as sub.

we've swapped henry for costa, and costa's goals and assists have certainly exceeded henry's.

one more stat from our best season in years...edwards was the fourth highest scorer in the squad, behind sako, dicko and afobe.

I've not castigated anyone for suggesting we bring in better players than we have. I've been saying the same thing. all teams should constantly look to improve on their squad or they run the risk of going backwards. I think I have regularly said we need a CB, one or two CMs, and at least one striker.

who they replace depends on formation and form for any given match. if we're playing 442 and we bring in better players in those positions than we currently have then they replace batth (I think stears edges him in consistent performance, but I wouldn't be too upset if batth stayed and stears was dropped), price, edwards and bod or dicko depending on the type of striker we sign.

in a 451 or any variant using a forward playing midfielder I think edwards is better than mason who are probably the best two we've seen play that role regularly. but i'd also like us to experiment with cavaleiro there when zyro or graham are fit to play LM. in that set-up, bod and dicko are benched, along with price and whoever else we play deep CM (saville? coady? saiss? none have really convinced yet).

None have convinced?

Coady and Saville have indeed convinced, both are dog shat in central midfield.

we have to stop accepting mediocrity, when we were at our best we had sako a firing dicko and afobe, oh how we need those now.

Like I said I will be amazed if Costa is still here at the beginning of next season, the only thing that will make him stay is if we bring in at least 5 quality players to replace the ones who need to go and who should have gone a while ago.

Talking about Saiss...........has he really been given a chance? From what I've seen of him he looks by far our best cm......mind you that isn't saying a lot is it.

Look at our record when two of saville, coady or Edwards play and then look at our record when two of kmac, price or Evans play.

Chalk and cheese and the reason is simple, you have to have an element of control on the ball as a midfield if you want to win games consistantly rather than have chasers, you can incorporate one into the side but more than that and you give up midfield.
