Schmeichel denies 'serious accusations'

The City goalkeeper is the first member of the squad to speak publically since Ranieir was sacked on Thursday, just nine months after the club lifted the Premier League trophy.

Reports have emerged claiming that senior players, including Schmeichel, went to the club's owners to give their concerns about Ranieri.

Schmeichel was asked whether those reports were true and the Denmark international responded by saying the players have no power to influence the owners.

"This is a serious accusation," Schmeichel told Sky Sports. "Something that is very hurtful. I do not have any power to influence our owners.

"It is ridiculous to think that any player has the influence or power to make decisions. It is ridiculous.

"I have nothing but the utmost respect and gratitude to Claudio for what he did at this club."

We will win on Monday a Vardy hat trick and Kasper to save another penalty and assists from Albrighton and Marhez

None of us on here know what has happened... Just because something is reported in the tabloids doesn't mean it's true contrary to some people's beliefs on here to believe every word that is printed in the papers.
Time to all get a grip, move on and support whoever we bring in....yes even if it's Pardew...lol.
Huge game on Monday....let's see what happens. Going to be a bumpy ride the last 13 games.

Yes I believe Kaspers interview but he didn't answer the important questions.
Do I believe all of Shakeys press conference? No, but that's up to me.
You and BS are coming at this from different sides and should just agree to disagree before it goes too far.

And that goes for BS also (you porch dumping reprobate)

Ffs anybody but Pardew.

The more I think about it the more somebody like Gary Rowett appeals.
Lets give a young, hungry English manager a chance.

Here's the link to the interview. Schmeichel absolutely denies players went to the owners and also says there was no special meeting after the Seville game, he doesn't know where these reports are coming from. He says repeatedly that he has 'no idea where these reports are coming from'

I personally don't believe the players went to the owners 4 times at all and I think it's sad Kasper has been forced to come out and defend himself.

He does say the owners are very hands on so there has been regular interaction with the players - I've no doubt conversations have been had, but not quite in the way it's been reported.

But again, I'm not making any assertions here. I'm just rejecting this whole backstabbing treachery for Shakespeare and Schmeichel.

As people say, amongst the extremes the truth is usually somewhere in between. I certainly won't be abusing any players on social media or at matches based on newspaper reports

BS

On a slightly different note, do you find it interesting that it was Kasper that has become the public face of the players today and not our club captain Wes Morgan.
I know many of us have been calling for Kasper to replace Wes as captain, maybe this is the first step.

Yeah perhaps that will happen now. I think Kasper has come out because he's one of the accused players and is clearly keen to set the record straight and emphasise his huge respect for Ranieri.

However I would absolutely have expected Morgan to be speaking up and for me, he's shown this season that he isn't a leader on the pitch never mind off it

Couldn't agree more BS, Morgans leadership has been as disappointing as his performances this season.

Yes, Kasper is acting like a captain.... The next manager will be seeing this too and will probably act accordingly.Morgan, I believe should just about make the bench Monday too. Chilwell and Gray to be starters too!
