Big Nige

Now clear favourite to return for a 3rd time, the only one on list to be shortening apart from Woy. That would be a turn up wouldn't it. Nice ending to the film, Big Nige rides back into town, the hell he does....

Why would anyone have an issue with Pearson coming back short term to keep us up? There isn't a better choice out there than someone whose done it with these players.

What's to say the players will play for anyone else more than they did Ranieri? They might not like Rowett and he might not be able to cope with a relegation battle. Vardy and Drinky might not play for Woy.

At least we know for certain that they'll play for Pearson and that surely has to be the most important thing?

Bringing someone back who can save us from relegation isn't a step backwards as far as I'm concened, going down is a step backwards.

I think in the summer we move forward and go for someone like Mancini but for now get Pearson back. If Pearson shows signs that he's calmed his temper and improved his tactical awareness then reassess. It's win win for me.

I don't think Pearson would accept a short term contract. I think he would expect to be manager next season as well. That's the issue - even if he keeps us up, I just don't see him taking the club forward. Might as well give Shakey the job until the end of the season, he has many of Pearson's key skills and comes with no baggage.

My issue is that the owners should always appoint a manager for the good of the club moving forward.
It is a dangerous precedent being set if the players are allowed to " cherry pick" who they want as manager. That's never been the way and I am uncomfortable with that happening now.

I'd normally agree but in this instance I think staying in the PL is the most important thing and I'm not convinced any other name that has been linked will actually achieve that.

I can't stand Woy and I reckon at least Vardy and Drinky will be keeping their fingers crossed he's not the man. Rowett has zero experience and I don't know if I fancy him to bring us back up either. Ranieri to Rowett is a huge step backwards as far as I'm concerned. O'Neill, Wagner and Conceicao don't want it, not that I'd want any of them either, well maybe MON. Mancini wants £6m/year and is off dancing so isn't actually available. I don't fancy him for a relegation battle either and he won't fancy a season in the Championship so we'll most likely be looking again in a few months.

That leaves Hiddink which would be my amazing otherwise it's stick with Shakey or give Pearson a short term deal with a view to perm depending on performances on and off the pitch, in other words a little attitude adjustment. Find me a better option and I'll be willing to listen or read 😉👍

I would rather go down than bring NP back in fact i would rather go down and rebuild again if we try to appoint the wrong manager.
We don't want relegation but we talk like we have been a premiership club for ten years not three two of which we have either been in or hovering around the relegation zone.

It would be an oppertunity for those who could not get another club or who where loyal to us to get us back up

Tell that to the owners mate, see how they feel about losing £100m. I reckon they're rather bury the hatchet than bury a fortune 😉

Nev, if that's how you feel then that's how you feel. It's essentially a choice of honour over glory. Just as long as you don't think that getting back up under those circumstances would be in any way easy. (Only a half chance at most - and probably less than that - of avoiding an extended stay in the second tier and beyond.)

I'm not Pearson's biggest fan by any stretch of the imagination. But there's no way I would accept relegation if it meant him not coming back. Keeping this club in the Premier League is the only thing that matters.

The bigger issue for me would be: what has Pearson got that Shakey hasn't? As far as I see it, they key things NP would bring would be motivation, respect from the players and organisation. We know Shakey has the first two of these, and as a coach probably the organisational skills too. And he comes without the considerable baggage that NP would bring. In that respect, I see no real advantages in bringing Pearson back.

If Shakey can have the same affect as NP then I agree. Tactically we just need to go back to what we did im during the Great Escape, get at teams from the off and attack.
