Who thought we'd be having to have a replay when the draw was made for this 5th round tie ! Not many, If ANY !

Yet here we are, Wednesday night at Eastlands, with an away 6th round tie at Boro the reward. Who wants it most.

OK. a couple of similarities to start with,
Both 3rd in our respective leagues.
Lets have a look at the last 10 fixtures of both sides in all competitions.
CITY, p 10. won 7 drawn 2 lost 1
TOWN p 10 won 7 drawn 2 lost 1

However, within that period, City have played 10 games, TOWN 12.
Also, league fixtures are City 25 games to TOWN 33 !
This fitness thing that TOWN pride themselves on is a positive, But City have a huge squad to choose from, and they have played less games.
Energy levels will become a major factor towards the end of the game.
I hope the traveling TOWN fans also take into account City haven't had a game this weekend, having a full week of rest, and/or recovery which ever way you see it. By contrast, TOWN have had that 'combative' duel, as described by Oggy on radio Leeds on Saturday.
It's going to be tough.

CITY will be going into this game brimming with confidence. 5 goals against Monaco, and looking good. When a side can bring on 90 million quids worth of 'subs'. The odds are stacked against you. But.

TOWN did ok at the JSS in the 1st game, they did better than ok. They lived up to their 'Terrier' name, & literally hounded the opposition. One goal would have done it, it wasn't to be on the day. They have to do it all again.
As is becoming a regular observance, TOWN should & could have had 4 or 5 on Saturday. Doubtful it will be Wednesday night, (we can hope) but you never know, This is a more 'relax', enjoy the experience game for the TOWN players, There will be more angst on the CITY players should it remain 0-0 by half time.

to the CITY-inc side of the club ! 15 quid is a nice gesture & I know the traveling fans on the night will appreciate it. Not sure we'll take up ALL the 8 thou allocated, But there should be enough there to make it a good atmosphere. (Barnsley ripped our lot off for 32 quid on Saturday !)
Quite literally, 2:50 cheaper, for return coach travel & admission into a terrific stadium, with world class stars on show, than entry alone into Oakwell.

Any advice on 'sound' amicable pubs that accommodate away fans on the night ?

Yes, gone are the days when Bernard manning used to joke about a new 10 million quid stand being flawed at Maine Rd.... because it faced the pitch.
Swales has gone, & CITY aren't the 2nd Manchester team anymore.
There'll be no Celticesque fireworks in the crowd from us... but with a yellow card list like ours, I'd say FIREWORKS on the 'grass' as our Dave likes to say.
We have to have a little laugh at 'Pep' to finish... he says if You don't score against Monaco, you don't go through ! I'd say the same applies on Wednesday night
