England vs West Indies ODI series

So England vs West Indies, short 3 match series, gets underway on Friday... IMO pointless going all the way to the Carribean for 3 ODI'S, but oh well....England already have Jake Ball ruled out due to knee injury, Surrey's Tom curran called up as replacment

root plays the same role as trott in ODI - anchor the innings if we lose a few wickets and try to bat through. a S/R of 80-90% is fine if you score 100 and you have big hitters scattered through the rest of the side to score quickly if needed. without root's grit yesterday we would have lost, and there's still a place for both types of player in modern ODI, even if the game has become much more slanted towards big biffers scoring quick 30s and 40s.

His strike rate in 20/20 is 130%.. Its a bit low at 86% in the 50 over format but Root is still averages 47 in 50/50

England make 328 in the last ODI. Looks a tough score for WI to beat.
