So I finally got round to watching Dave King's interview today and a few things somewhat ticked me off a bit
1) Talking about preparing for the Europa League Qualifying rounds
I'm all for us preparing for thes matches.....if we get their FFS
I couldn't help but think to myself....is there any thought being given here to the notion that we haven't actually qualified for Europe yet, and it'd be wise to ensure we get there first before planning which players we are going to buy for those games???
2) Director of Football...urgency
When he was asked about Pedro, he basically said Pedro had been asked to put a player plan together, so it could be identified who should stay, who should go and where we need to strengthen, and he wanted this done sooner rather than later so business could be done in plenty of time before the qualifiers
He then goes on to say, later in the interview, that the pressure is off regards finding a director of football, and the club was taking its time to ensure we got the right man....correct me if I am wrong but if you are planning to get business done well in advance of any European games we might have, should it not be a priority to get a key figure that will be involved in the decision making when it comes to transfer targets, in the door, fcking asap??
3) Transfer Policy
When he was asked what was learned from the transfer activity in the summer...he basically said, nothing really
Given the fact that most of the players we signed have been $hite so far and you've openly admitted you overspent supporting Warburton, I'd like to have think some sort of faking lessons would've been learned FFS

In case anyone is interested, being reported today that Gilmour is off to Chelsea.
The boy was on holiday in the same place as I was last summer, and was fairly friendly with my son. He said last year that's where he was probably going to go, so looks like it's been on the cards for a while. If he's as good as everyone thinks he is, then it's a bit of a loss to our game up here.

When talking about Pedro assessing the squad and putting a player plan in place.... right at the start of the interview
"We’re encouraging him to try and do any business sooner rather than later because we’re all very sensitive to the fact that Europa League qualifiers are coming up very early, in June.
“Ideally we would like, if it’s possible at all, to have some of the player plan changes in place before we go into these qualifiers"
It is said, in no uncertain terms there, that Pedro has been asked to put his plans for transfers in place sooner rather than later so preparations can be made for the qualifiers in June
We haven't qualified for Europe yet
If we are wanting to get transfer business done early, surely getting a DoF in place to assist with that would be a priority?
Later...he then admits we haven't qualified yet, and says we won't rush a DoF appointment

2 things
1) I don't like the assumption that we are going to qualify for Europe is all....I think we will, but feel we should ensure we are there before we buy anyone and I hope that happens
2) if the club are selling the DoF and coach structure as the best way forward, it doesn't make sense to get a manager in and get him to make major decisions for next seasons, only for a DoF too swan in at a later date and take on that responsibility.....surely the DoF should involved in the planning for next season from the getgo if he is being brought in for next season, and most importantly be involved with the decision making on transfers and the players we bring in/ship out
WTF will he be doing if he is not involved in that?
