D.o.f Imminent

RANGERS are set to appoint a Director of Football imminently as part of a reshuffle of their off-field structure at Ibrox.

The Light Blues revealed the details of an internal governance shake-up on Monday afternoon that affects the boards of Rangers International Football Club plc and The Rangers Football Club Ltd.

Managing Director Stewart Robertson oversaw the appointment of Pedro Caixinha as boss alongside Graeme Park and Head of Football Administration Andrew Dickson.

Southampton’s Ross Wilson turned down the chance to become the Gers’ Director of Football and the search for the right candidate is still ongoing.

Paul Murray, Douglas Park and John Gilligan have now stepped down from the board of TRFC and the Director of Football will join Robertson, Dickson and Company Secretary James Blair at the top table.

A statement read: “Following a recent review, there have been some minor changes to Rangers’ internal governance structures.

“At the time that the previous board was removed, there was a dual reporting structure that duplicated non-executive director roles at the holding company (RIFC) and at the operating company (TRFC).

“This structure was not in accordance with best practice and appears to have been put in place by the previous board to accommodate the inability of Sandy Easdale to sit on the holding company board.

“The TRFC operating board has now been fully functioning for some time and with the imminent appointment of a Director of Football the RIFC board believes that it is appropriate that the TRFC board continues to function independently of the RIFC board within the mandates and budgets set by RIFC.

“Consequently, the non-executive directors appointed by RIFC to the TRFC board will now exercise their roles solely as non-executive directors of the holding company, RIFC. The executive management of the Club will then form the board of TRFC."

Aw excited now

It's a shambles and no mistake.

One of the original benefits proposed (apart from becoming a modern football club) was that it would make managerial change easier. When the manager leaves, you only have to change on position and not the whole staff.

It's a complete nonsense because the manager can take them anyway regardless of who chose them.

But to say that then let pedro appoint everyone anyway is just a joke.
