I think he would have closed it if he thought he could get away with it.
The guy has put this club back years with regard to the academy.

And that's not me being clever, stevie wonder could see the end result of what Cellino was doing.

I think this shows how little cellino knew about football, I think he was doing the same thing at Cagliari, or worst still selling their best youngsters with little or no regard imo of the team, squad & most of all the fans, he tried to turn our club into a Cagliari imo but found it was far too big to do that, so like I said before on another thread a couple of weeks back cockroach started the ball rolling with the academy destruction imo GFH & cellino just carried on with it not forgetting that they used to sort advice from him....we need deep pockets to bring the academy upto the level it was at and youngsters we can be proud of...no disrespect to anyone attached to the academy right now but things could've been so much better imo..

Bates didn't destroy the academy. He brought in the likes of Redfearn as well as bringing in past Leeds players such as Naylor and Bromby who are Leeds through and through. They were both treated very poorly by Cellino. At the end of the day the fact that up until recently the academy has still been producing is a testament to the fact it was not Bates who destroyed the academy.
