Live - Season Awards 2017

21:00 Welcome one and all to the finale of what has been a truly wonderful season, one of the most competitive title races in 2 years came to a head with Chelsea once again Champions, their third title since 2009. Tonight we come together to celebrate the LSTD League.

21:03 Now unfortunately due to Tory spending cuts and some increased taxes, we couldn't afford a big hall for you all tonight, so we've joined together in Fan's front room, not guests, just 12 managers, with JET and Marky awol, and a couple of cold ones. Lets get cracking.

21:05 So, beers cracked, lets begin. First of all we start with by thanking everyone for their continued participation, you all make it a great league, the longest in 606 and JA606 history, every day still smashing well over 200-300 comments as if we had just begun. A special thank you to Fan who continues to make this a smooth process with results, injuries and never a game week late. Also a big thank you to Tino, Ska etc who lend a big helping hand. Next, congratulations once again to Fan and his Chelsea side on overcoming the challenge from Newcastle and Leicester as well as making it a double with the Fa Cup, a big congratulations to Ludy on winning his first trophy and well done to Rooney on his EL title and well done Leicester for an incredible CL win. Season 9 was a great year and we hope to continue that into our 10th league season, with the competition looking tighter than ever.

21:13 No messing around tonight, we start with Flop of the Season.

21:15 In third place.....Paul Pogba. After winning the Young player of the season award last year, the Frenchman has lost his place in Chelsea's line up, with Dele Alli becoming a more prominent fixture. 2nd goes to Claudio Bravo, who signed for Liverpool looking to overcome Thibaut Courtois to become the clubs number one, only to drop everything that came his way. But the winner......Manchester United England's most successful club won't take part in season 10 after Lubo and LRF combined to relegate them.

21:20 Second award of the night is the Wooden Spoon, this award went to Ludy last season and elevated him to finally challenge to get into the Champions League, will it be as lucky for this years winner?

21:22 In third place....Ludy. Well done to our resident billionaire, close to retaining the honour but too often this season he got Villa some big results. In 2nd place Rooney, who despite his EL triumph, flopped in the league and Champions League despite arguably having the best team in the country. First place though.....Congratulations LRF. We dont always see eye to eye, but undoubtedly, this is a well deserved award, we hope it propels you to success next season.

21:25 Before we move on to the Most Improved..Catergories, we have a musical interlude, a little Karaoke session.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ct6BUPvE2sM

21:28 Safe to say we shouldn't have given Ludy any alcohol. Thankfully Fan has wrestled the mic back and we shall continue with the Most Improved Team of the Season. In 3rd place it's Newcastle United who went from perennial underachievers to second place with some excellent additions complementing an already solid defence and Luis Suarez's fire power. In 2nd place Stoke City. An odd one, they improved rapidly as Ska attracted the likes of Zlatan to the Britannia. Strangely he opted to sell all of the stars and ruin his team but you can see the long term plan in place. That means the winner is... Aston Villa. Still just missing out on top 4 but there is no doubt Ludy found a balance for his side this year and has arguably the best depth in the league.

21:32 Next up its the Most Improved Manager of the Year. In 3rd place, SKA, well done. 2nd place Fud, just short of retaining his award from last season but another improvement sees him keep Tottenham safe. The run way winner though, Nadz, who with a little assistance from Hero has really improved his Birmingham side this season.

21:36 Up next then is Signing of the Season. No third place this year, in 2nd Radja Nainggolan to Newcastle But the runner away winner...Cristiano Ronaldo to Leicester City. Renegade doesn't often find that he gets much luck transfer wise but snatching Ronaldo was a real coup.

21:40 Next up...Best Tactician This is an award that has been a 2 horse race for several seasons now and this season was no different, with only two managers getting a vote. In 2nd missing out by one vote yet again, LSTD. Which means Renegade is your tactician of the year.

21:42 Coming up..the player of the season awards along with team of the season and manager of the year. But first, a short interlude courtesy of Fan. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0PIt9R2GD8Q

21:46 Thanks Fan. Next up then, Surprise Player of the Season.

21:50 In third place, Ousmanne Dembele. The young french winger went from Newcastle reserve to Portsmouth starter last season, helping them with the Europa League. In 2nd Mousa Dembele, another young frenchman, he went from Liverpool academy to scoring goals to keep Tottenham safe. The winner though Sadio Mane. The unlikely hero of Newcastle's season, keeping some quality players out of the side, being the Robin to Suarez's Batman.

21:55 Next up then, we give you the Young Team of the Season. In goal Sergio Rico, a back four of Elseid Hysaj, Raphael Varane, Alessio Romagnoli and Lavyin Kurzawa. Midfield we have Marco Verratti and Dele Alli flanked by Yannick Carrasco and Leroy Sane. Scoring the goals are Paulo Dybala and Andrea Belotti.

21:58 Next up its Young Player of the Season. In 3rd place its Birmingham's Leroy Sane. 2nd Raphael Varane just misses out on the award for the second year running. But the winner....ironically the man that replaced him in his own team replaces Paul Pogba as the holder of this award it is.....Dele Alli

22:02 Next then is your Team of the Season The best 11 of this season, reduced from 48 nominees. In goal once more its David De Gea. The defence consists of the retiring Phillip Lahm, Sergio Ramos and Leonardo Bonucci, with Marcelo. In midfield we have N'Golo Kante and Luka Modric with Cristiano Ronaldo and Eden Hazard outside them. Upfront its Luis Suarez and Pierre Emerik Aubameyang.

22:05 Its time for Player of the Season In 3rd place we have Leonardo Bonucci. The Chelsea captain once again providing some defensive nouse in an otherwise forward thinking side.

22:07 In 2nd place we have.....Cristiano Ronaldo. The signing of the season juts misses out, staggeringly he has only won this award twice.

22:09 That means, for the second year running, your winner is....LUIS SUAREZ. The top scorer yet again, this time his Newcastle side mounted a strong title challenge and with his continued dominance, they won't be far off next season either.

22:11 This means we come to the end of the evening with our final award, Manager of the Year 2017. This award has been won a record two times by Fan, can he extend the record or will either of LSTD or Renegade equal this tally? Or could we see a new winner, with both Tranq and Welshy well in the mix.

22:14 In third....Welshy. The Welshman comes in the top 3 for first time in this award, having yet again guided his young Hull team to safety. He is building along term project on humberside.

22:16 In 2nd place, just missing out on becoming the first new winner of the award in years its....Tranq. Having guided Newcastle to 2nd, pushing Chelsea to the final day, he takes home second place himself. This means, the winner comes from one of three previous victors...

22:20 RENEGADE This seasons Champions League winning manager takes the award for the 2nd time, equalling his fellow Scott's record. Congratulations to him, congratulations to everyone on a wonderful season.

22:22 With that done, there is just time to once again thank everybody and wish each of you a goodnight. Award money will be posted here, either by the end of the night or early morning, as well on the league homepage, and if time permits on your team pages.
