Top 3 Western Movies of all time

I go through spells of only wanting to watch Westerns. Not my favourite movie genre but once every year I get the western fever and now It's hit me.

So what are you favourite three westerns?

Mine:

3. The Wild Bunch

2. Unforgiven

1. Once upon a time in the west

What you saying?

On a side not has anybody seen The Salvation? Eric Cantona as a cowboy is possibly the best thing I've ever seen.

Westworld (1973) though I suppose this wasn't a full-on "western" as such.

True Grit (1969)

New series of Westworld was better than the original film though I think, Anthony Hopkins is such a great actor, absolutely brilliant.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I haven't seen the new rendition of this classic. For those who haven't seen it, Yul Bryner's performance in the original was quite stunning.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I thought the Coen brothers handled the whole rattlesnake pit scene much more realistically.

but he has done average films.

his first 2 films are fantastic. from then on its all a self indulgent mess for the most part

I agree in the main, though I'd stretch it to include Jackie Brown.

Haven't really had time for him since.

On topic, also a fan of the Coen's remake of True Grit

I thought There Will Be Blood was amazing when I saw it at the cinema, love how those wide open spaces felt so oppressive.

Another personal fave is Jim Jarmusch's Dead Man, beautiful film.

My GF is off to Glastonbury next week and they're showing Dead Man on a screen and Johnny Depp is there presenting it

She'd never watch the movie (a classic) on its own but hopefully Johnny Depp being there helps

Robb - I'd love to watch it on a big screen, I only actually watched once on video, and that was years ago.

Time to watch it again, I think.

Would love to go to a film festival dedicated to his movies . Love Broken Flowers and Ghost Dog

Didn't really like Broken Flowers, tbh. Bill Murray irritates me.

Haven't seen anything by JJ since. Is Paterson any good?
