Football "journalism"

Easiest job in the world ?

The latest rumour that blew up yesterday was lewandowski to Chelsea

Spread like wildfire across social media

All because his agent said "of course Chelsea would be interested who wouldn't be"

All of a sudden we are "in talks with Bayern"

Everyone laps it up,

We might sign lukaku but i guarantee we won't sign any of the other things layers we have been linked with

I saw an article yesterday with someone saying they were pleased with the players we were being linked with

Football journalism is gay

Depends what you define as journalism, if your main source is 90min.com or some such nonsense then yes it is easy and not credible.

But there are plenty of top notch football writers out there.

Guillem Balague ✔ @GuillemBalague
Lewandowski: Both Chelsea and MUFC have spoken to his agents. London preferred choice, but MUFC, very keen and last chat was yesterday 2/2

It seems this story may have legs.

Balague is a well respected source and normally not far off.

hahahah ballague tweeting this pretty much proves my point

he is never correct and talks utter rubbish constantly

Nice of Balague to get in on the act once the rumour has already spread all over.

If it happens to be true he can add it to his list of 'scoops' and if not, he can pretend talks broke down but he was never wrong.

I'd say Johny Stecchino is more credible than Balague. I am holding fire until Johny confirms It, as I wouldn't want to raise my hopes up

I hear Johnny Bravo more reliable than the pair of them

It depends on what you read. I personally find that the Guardian has the best content for football. Their podcast is very good, and much of the opinion pieces are insightful. The Telegraph is also pretty good, but some of the content is only for those who have premium.

Football journalism is like any other journalism, as it will depend on which new source it's coming from. When I read about politics, I don't expect quality journalism from The Sun, Daily Mail or The Mirror. Those News Papers are aimed at a certain demographic. Instead, if I'm looking for more in depth content, I read the Spectator, News Statesman, The Guardian, The Times or The Telegraph.

it's too simplistic to lump it all together as one entity, you learn who is worth reading and who is not, most credible journos avoid transfer talk where they can

Balague is one of those sources who is very close to a lot of big players. He has ghost written books for most of the Barça squads of the last 15 years, he's close to Ronaldo and more importantly, the ex-Barça players in Germany. If Guillem says it, there is usually substance.
