Definitely maybe....

Hughes & Christie on their way.......to Watford and Middlesbrough...;possibly.

To be honest it is probably time to cash in on Hughes at a reported £8 million, rising to £10 million. His star has waned a bit in my opinion. He is no longer a regular starer at club and Under 21 level.

Christie's face doesn't appear to fit anymore. Not sure what the fee would/is, but hopefully a few further coffers are added to the war chest.

My other view is that this is Rowett properly stamping his authority on the club.

Final thoughts - If Hughes does go, then good luck to him. He has been great for the club. He needs a challenge at a higher level if he is to try and live up to his potential.

I think wills "problem" is that he's too good for this league, and too good for the players around him at derby. It was the same when we had Tom Carroll on loan, he was made to look rubbish, passes seemingly going astray, because his brain and passing skillset were too advanced for the other players we had, if we had players more to his level they would have been anticipating and feeding off things instead of being yards short

It's a new era at Derby, I think it'll be a while before we see the attacking, passing game from us again, looking back, post QPR, I feel we retreated into ourselves and sank into possession for possession's sake. That's in the past now though. I don't think Will was a GR type player.

I think the pendulum is swinging ferociously towards functional football, but it'll swing back again, let's just hope GR can assemble a decent defensive foundation to build on, when it does.

We're 2 or 3 short of anything competitive in my mind though currently:

Wide Mid
Box to Box Mid
Holding Mid

Still early days though:

Ledley
Whelan
Arfield

Solanke (loan-assuming Liverpool don't want to play him this season)

I think that could be a decent GR team, I just might have to start watching Ligue 1 to get my progressive football fix.

Best of luck Will hope you can cement a place at Shatford and fulfill the potential.

I've heard another rumour that we received 9 million, plus what we owed them was written off, and has a 15% sell on clause

If the ££'s owed to Watford have indeed been written off as part of the deal then, it's not that bad on the whole. I'm sure there are many twists and turns to come and I imagine Ince will be the next out of the door.

I know, god forbid we wanted to keep hold of one of the best players in the league instead of just selling him to the first bidder. 🔔 end

The £££'a owed to Watford has now been paid off. Derby owed Watford £6m approx. Watford have Taken £4.5m off that debt to cover the initial payment and Derby have paid Watford £1.5m to clear the debt. Watford are due to pay Derby another payment on Jan 1st 2018.

In short we have had to pay £1.5m and Hughes to cover the debt. Now Watford owe Derby
