one thing that did confuse me is how the player can move on a free - ie sign for you lot, not go on loan - but united still subsidise his wages...odd/unusual arrangement no?
i've seen loan players have their wages fully/partially paid by his parent club, but curious to sell a player and still have to fund his pints and sweets habits.

There's no way he'll be released and then still have his wages paid by Utd!
If he's released then a deal will be struck between Utd & Rooney, by way of his contract being paid up and him being released.

It's a master stroke. We got alarmed at your silly spending spread and are sending agent Rooney to destabilise you by missing every chance he gets.

So United fund his wages.
Having two years left will mean £26m payout.
Cheers United

When we got relegated we subsidised a lot of the wages for players we got rid of, Seth Johnson for example.

United have waived the signing on fee apparently.
So, to me this has got to be a sweetner for the Lukako deal to happen! I
