Spurs having sold a first team f/b will weaken them unless they buy soon, unless they just give up on the CL. Competing on 4 fronts needs a deeper squad quality than they have. They didn't really have a choice once Walker had made it clear he wanted out but they do have a choice in replacing him, £45m in the bank won't help once the season starts.

If Sanchez forces his way out in a bargain sale, which it appears (if the reports are true) is his game then that is Arsenal done as far as a challenge for Top 4, which Liverpool and United will welcome of course. Top 2 should be Chelsea and City, then Liverpool Spurs and United and Arsenal drifting into a battle with Everton unless they sign someone decent.
May not work out that way of course.

Just to clarify Poch had made it clear to Walker that Trips would be getting alot more game time next season. This is something that would sit badly at any time but when the player displacing you is also after your World Cup place you have no choice but to leave, so lets not pretend that any of this wasn't what Spurs/Poch wanted. When Poch wants to keep a player (Dier for example) they don't go.

Wasn't it a case of Walker getting marginalised after xmas when he turned down a new contract?

Poch is the greatest manager of all time.

He's never made a bad decision, never lost a player he wanted to keep, never signed a bad player has improved every player he has ever coached because of his magic and unique style.

Combined with Levy being the best negotiator in football history, it's a wonder anyone is able to compete with Spurs.

I expect them to win all 38 games this season, and the CL, and both domestic cups. Then with the new stadium in the pipeline and Levy and Poch leading the way they should never lose a game or concede a goal for the rest of eternity.

Goodbye competitive football, it was fun while it lasted.

Spurrs have the best record in England 2015-17. And best GD. And most goals scored. And fewest conceded.

They have already proved over the past two seasons they are the best team in the land

THudd, I'm confused. You mention "Man City" and, er, "City" in the same column. Also, you mention them as"The big six." There's seven of them on your list mate.

Is this an initiative test? Have I passed? Or failed again?

Who can this second "City" be?

Surely they've got to be looking at winning more than 38 games.

Just to be clear, I doubt that the writer was in the room so the truth will not be known, however, Walker had made it known he would rather be nearer home. As Pep said about Kolarov, if a player does not want to be here I don't want him here. Of course Spurs would have rather kept him had he been committed to the cause but he wasn't so the £45 m made the exit more palatable for all concerned. The point remains though, unless Spurs spend some of that soon they will not be able to compete on 4 fronts.
£45m in the bank may keep Levy happy, £45 m in the bank and bottom of a CL group won't make the fans or Poch happy.

I honestly think Sissoko & Janssen where forced on Spurs by the premier league as to make football more competitive!

And of course not forgetting the club without any European football as a distraction, which is the biggest advantage of all...... Leicester
