UFC 214:Jon Jones vs Daniel Cormier Thread!

Here we go! Officially the best card of the year thus far and on paper, one of the best in recent times, UFC 214 is upon us this weekend. Three title fights, several fight of the year possibilities and a lot of carnage and destruction. The UFC have delivered on this one and it promises to be a night to remember.

Headlining the event is one of the biggest rematches of all time. Jon Jones returns to reclaim his throne against the current champion Daniel Cormier. These two men do not like each other and I expect to see a fight to the death because more than the title is on the line for the two fighters. Tyron Woodley defends his 170 lb belt against the BJJ master Demian Maia. Woodley has looked unconvincing as champion but Maia may allow him to put an end to that. Maia has decimated his opponents with ease thanks to his BJJ mastery and if he takes Woodley down, we could see a new champion. Cyborg returns to 145 and fights evinger for the title. I fear for evinger in this fight and I can see a repeat of the scene in jurassic park where they drop the lamb into the T Rex den. My favourite match up of the night is none other than Robbie Lawler vs Donald Cerrone. Two men who have done it all and love going toe to toe and fighting. This could be the UFC's Gatti vs Ward. Both men are coming off concussive losses so it will be interesting to see how they look but once they start throwing, violence of the most extreme will ensue. Manuwa vs Oezdemir rounds off the main card with a solid prelim card as Barao takes on Sterling and Lamas vs Knight is a dark horse.

Main Card:
Jon Jones vs Daniel Cormier 2 (Light heavyweight title)
Tyron Woodley vs Demian Maia (Welterweight title)
Cris Cyborg vs Tonya Evinger (Featherweight title)
Robbie Lawler vs Donald Cerrone
Jimi Manuwa vs Volkan Oezdemir

Predictions: Jones,Woodley, Cyborg,Lawler,Manuwa.

Thoughts on the card?????

If he gets a 3+ year ban, I think he is done. Although Dana is notorious for contradicting himself so who knows what the future holds for Jones.

For me, Jones is the greatest of all time. The DC fight cemented this but now that the drug violation has surfaced, the debate about who the GOAT is can continue.

You have to ask the question, how does a guy test positive on his first fight back from a doping ban Either he has some sort of brain injury preventing him from making logical choices or he has surrounded himself with the wrong type of people.

I was mightily impressed with that DJ finish. He has now broken Silva's record and he will go down as one of the greatest fighters this sport has ever seen. I'd like to see him test himself against Cody or TJ next and I feel like to truly stand alone at the pinnacle, he has to put himself in with guys that are actually a challenge. Ray Borg fought valiantly but the guy was a huge under dog and I do not think anyone had him beating DJ before the fight. In fact, I didn't even a glimmer of hope for him.

My boy Tony Ferguson delivered in the main event and he has made himself undeniable now. A 10 fight win streak in the most competitive division in the UFC is phenomenal and against Kevin Lee he showed just how dangerous he is. Lee did do well and won the first round but El Cucuy is a different animal and off his back, he might be the best in the business. Ferguson vs McGregor next. The UFC need to make that fight or tell Conor to vacate. I do not want to see Diaz vs McGregor 3 for the title.
