or, Eagels v TERRIERS,
or De Boer v Wagner,
or.. Ultras v Cowshed Loyal.
4.5 DECADES later, We've arrived.
Sleeves rolled up, grit the teeth, 'We go Again".
Town already doomed to failure by the pundits, We've heard it all before.
However, Yet again, Town have virtually brought in a new team to compliment the players who gained promotion. So very premature to assume we are nothing more than cannon fodder in relation to the other 19 sides.
Many similarities between Palace & Town !
We have both had friendlies against Stiff opposition, and drawn each of our respective last two games.
Palace v Metz 1-1 TOWN v Stuttgart 3-3
Palace v Schalke 1-1 TOWN v Torino 2-2
Both sides have Managers making their 1st appearance in the Premier league, This will be as much of a contest between the two new managers to this league as it is going to be between the players.
Could it even come down to the home crowd advantage of the Ultras giving the home side the edge, The Traveling 'Loyal' will certainly contest that issue
One startling negative stat that isn't confidence inspiring to us TERRIERS,
It's just over 580 minutes since Izzy Brown scored Town's last goal in open play away at Wolves
We need to bang one one in
Will it be Mounie or Ince ? or BOTH How good would that be to start the new season.
Possible ? Absolutely. The pair have been on target through out the pre season warm ups, I'm confident one or the other will score Saturday afternoon.
The Defense . We've also leaked with equal aplomb, .
Do we need another central defender, Yes. Jorgensen, Schindler, Hefele, Stankovic. I'm not convinced the quality is there for the Premier league. We'll see. Of course I'd be delighted proved Wrong.
Full backs, I'd say we are well catered for in that dept, with the possibility of Yiadom (Barnsley) or the trialist Cavare being considered, From what I've read, I'd say Cavare might have injury issues,
As is. A SELL OUT.
Palace telling fans not to turn up without a ticket.
Two things they are doing that maybe TOWN could have a look at for our home games,
They are offering a & £6 for the 45 minutes after the opening of the turnstiles at 1:30 ! Also asking for fans to turn up early due to new security operation.
They also have a 'fan Zone'. capacity 500, A 1st come 1st served basis.
Food, drink, A BBQ, Big screen Would that be popular at TOWN ?
Selhurst down sides.. Visiting fans often complain about a 'shallow' slope that incorporates the away fans, making viewing difficult, One fan claiming he had to stand on his seat to see over the fan in front ! Others voice the negative of support pillars blocking the view, Lucky for 'our Walt' who gets a front row seat. Jammy Dodger.
Pointless doing a 'last 6 results comparo. being from different divisions & the changes in Playing staff.
Wells our 2nd top scorer from last season seems out of favour & destined to leave. And Caybay for Palace, Is he staying or on the move ?
Ironic that Palace were the last team we played as we departed the top division in 1972, 0-0 the score line. Would we be happy with that this time around.
Me. Yes. a point away from home, and a tidy block out by the defense.
That would be a huge confidence booster, and a nice steady influential mindset to be going into the next fixture.
The Palace fans don't seem to frequent '606'. So I won't bother with a who's who. Instead list my preference for the starting eleven.
Lossl.
Smith (The new club captain)
Jorgensen.
Schindler.
Lowe.
Karchunga.
Hogg
Mooy
Ince,
VLP.
Mounie.
Palace were no World beaters last season, They Survived. It could have been worse for Town with an opening game v Chelsea, City or Spurs.
Palace are a steady intro to Premier league Football.
If TOWN are as fit as is claimed, We can go after this lot.
Fingers crossed for the win.
-NO LIMITS-
Set 'em Alight the Mighty Blue & White.
