Who hasn't seen this movie before? Sign a couple of players, dither until the window closes, then bleat about how hard he tried and that he is "convinced" the team as it is will challenge for the title.
Why cant Wenger build a squad that looks and feels complete? An injury to Xhaka and we are back to Ramsey and Elneny is midfield (two players that are high on being busy and low on creativity)If Lemar cannot be got,the Jean Michael Seri guy is is made for our league (creative, energetic and burst of pace). He has a decent release clause; why are we not keen.
At the back, Kos may not play much, Per is retiring after the season; shouldn't a CB be prioritized?
The new excuse is that the squad is bloated. Whose fault is it that we retain dross like Campbell, Debuchy, Jenkinson et al. Whose incompetence that we have four players potentially leaving on a free next season. Sanogo, Diaby, Flamini; we keep dead woods on the payroll and let them leave on a free.
You look in envy the efficient and ruthless manner that a properly run club like Real Madrid conduct their business (bought back Morata from Juve and sold him on for three time the money) bringing in king's ransom for fringe players.
Window slams shut in a couple of weeks; not holding my breath.

It really rankles the way Arsene over uses the word "convinced"
He is convinced of everything but does not have the courage of his convictions; the courage to be ruthless, to be honest,(kept lying that his contract situation did not affect the team last season until recently), the courage to admit that he no longer has it in him to deliver the title.

The board need to have the courage and ambition to tell Wenger he has to improve the squad and sort out the deals without Wenger haggling over the price. Then also have the courage to tell him he's not doing well enough, while also taking the flack as well. Not just letting Wenger get it all.
They've given Wenger so much control though he can just run the club how he wants, And the board are the obviously happy with it. They should really now just make Wenger coach, he can pick what players he wants, then Wenger goes back onto the training pitch and coach, while the board pay what is needed.
But as we all know, the board have no interest in truly progressing this club to the top. Not if it requires lots of spending money

If we went into the season with this squad I'd be happy
Everyone thought Alexis and Ozil were gone after the FA Cup final. Keeping them is bigger than any signing we will make.
Who out there, who is available and better than what we have going to join us?

Cech
Mustafi Kos Nacho
Bellerin Ramsey Xhaka Kola
Ozil Laca Alexis
That's a pretty good team on paper. In reserve you've got
Ospina
Holding Per Gabriel
Ox Coq Elneny Gibbs
Theo Giroud Welbz
That's not to mention Santi Cazorla who walks back into our team if and when he's ever fit and the likes of Wilshere, Iwobi and that kid from pre season everyone keeps going on about.
The squad we have is great, the manager not so good.
If it was up to me I'd bring in the likes on N'Zonzi and VVD but what is to say, because they would address the weakest areas of our squad (not that we are weak there), but what is to say they even want to join us?

We need people off the wage bill before we buy more

I too think we're done. You have to put your Wenger hat on in these circumstances and then you won't be disappointed.
As that person said before me, 'We're always 2-3 players short'.

Like I said an injury/ suspension to Xhaka sees the midfield bare for creativity. ( I have discounted Wilshere and Cazorla as I feel injuries have put paid to their footballing careers).
We need a proper midfielder to play with Xhaka, someone near the skill set of Santi but with a bit more muscle and running power.
With the rumoured departures of Gabriel and Chambers, we can also throw £60million at Southampton for VVD to plug the defence.

Gabriel isn't leaving and Chambers wasn't part of the squad last season so it's not like he's a miss.
Of the possible departures over the next few weeks Gibbs, Lucas, Debuchy, Joel and Jenkinson, only the former 2 were part of the squad last season and we have replaced them with better players.
I would take VVD but I wouldn't throw retaarded money at him. He's nowhere near as good as people make out. He plays at an extremely defensive club that heavily protects their CBs. Even since his injury, they have kept 11 clean sheets out of 21 games without him. I'd take him because he'd get in our first XI but he's not facking Baresi

The team as it is will challenge for the title
until Christmas and then it will fall apart.
(Hopefully this wont happen this year as we have a new striker and the team collapse has always included awful form from GIroud so maybe it will be different this year)

Sanchez wasn't exactly 100% on Sanchez or Ox leaving
I think one will leave in the next two weeks
