Fans being deceived again

So with the season started, and the euphoria of the crazy opening game settling down a bit, I want to know how people are feeling about this season and some of three choices made by management.

We all have heard last season how the backroom was going to learn from their mistakes and restructure but I don't think anything has happened. Wenger made noises about changing but I think we have more of the same. The defence with a new addition, still looks as watertight as a sieve. Zonal marking at set pieces?!?! West Brom on will have a field day. No players on posts at corners either. So tactically, we are still the same and giving offence a priority over defensive coaching. Personnel has never been an issue in my opinion but Kolasinac could be a huge player if he stays injury free.

Now transfers...again, a couple early deals in but not enough again. There is a huge Cazorla shaped hole in midfield that is yet to be filled. Also, I am not a big fan of keeping players who want to leave and won't renew contracts. If I thought we could honestly challenge on all 4 fronts by keeping them, then yes. But we all know we won't. So why lose the money? I would take it and look to replacements. Give them the season to bed in and hopefully have a strong team. It's a team sport and it how often have we been outplayed by teams who on paper look weaker than us? So if an offer of 60 million came in for Sanchez - even from City - I'd take it. We have had him for some time and not won the league so why would this year be different. Also, we play city twice in the league - even withSanchez, we as a team can (with three proper application and tactical nous) have beaten better teams. Same goes for selling Ox who has been inconsistent for 90% off his career with us and nite suddenly wants to hold us over a barrel?? Take 20 million plus and ship out.

What do you guys feel? I know being a fan is about the hope, but i have been failed by thus team for too long to hope. And no, we don't have a good given right to win anything, but this is arsenal and we should be thereabouts each season.

Wasn't our set piece defending very good last season?

Of course, it is arsenal, so expect us to improve in one area and go in completely the other direction in another.

What will we do with money generated from player sales? We won't be signing players of the quality we've sold, so we may aswell keep them for an extra season.

I think that Leicester City game was actually one of the fewest shots Arsenal allowed in the last 5 or 6 years in a premierleague game.

Only point made worth paying attention to is the Cazorla replacement. I see us struggling again this season without a like for like. If any MF 3 we've tried had looked at least a bit commanding in past games, I might be less worried but they've all looked dire to average.

Saying that though, I'm fast growing in the belief that the problem with the MF is less about a Cazorla shaped hole and far far more about an Ozil sized deadweight.

With the signing of Laca we have strengthened a position that has needed it for years. I'm expecting him to get 20+ goals this season and be a lot more trouble for opposition defences overall than Giroud is.

Imo the biggest issue is now midfield. I like Ramsey and his workrate when he is on form but Xhaka does not do enough for me. I know a lot of people like his range of passing and I have no problem with them thinking that, football is subjective, but I would lik e a deep midfielder who does more defensively. As I said somewhere earlier today, I would like him to attac the ball when defending. Not putting in tackles, just running at the ball to try to get to it first. What this would do is block a lot of opposition runs to attack the ball. Watch Vardys 2nd (leicesters 3rd) last week and you will see he just stands there as Vardy runs past him. Just by trying to attack the ball he might have blocked Vardys run by being in the way (whether he won the ball or not). what I dont want to see is a return to crazy tackles, just attack the ball at set pieces and disrupt opposition attacks.

Wenger is idiot for selling Gabrial without getting a replacement bar few CBs rest of them are cr@p and yet he wants to play 3 at the back...

As for players running down their contract and making arsenal look like a joke......no comments.

The old man has gone senile....needs to stop holding the club hostage and feck off..

Luxurious? You're joking, right? Also, why on earth would you place a PS3 on a coffee table right in front of a couch?

Terrible article. Complaining about not enough signings but advocating selling best player. I missed this place

You seem a bit slow. You would keep players who don't want to be there? What for? To try win a league you have not seriously challenged for in the past 10 years plus?? If we are stingy enough when it comes to making acceptable bids for players we need, why lose out on 80 million on players leaving...especially as whether they stay or go, the results are the same!

Wenger said at the start of the transfer window that we would sign 2 or, at the most, 3 players. We have a very big squad.

And you moan we haven't signed enough, then moan we haven't flogged our best player to a rival. Doesn't make much sense to me.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Again...why lose out on 60 million?? Whether he stays or goes, we know our ambition top out at top 4. Flog Sanchez, ox and if possible, ozil. Bring in new management and give him money to spend. This season will be like the last ten. Only realistic trophy is a domestic cup and we MAY get top 4.
