So what did we learn from tonight´s game?

Ballack was badly missed last season

Sturridge is looking better and better

Torres still looks like he has lost that half yard of pace

Cech is a great keeper

Anelka still offers us a great deal

We are fecked in the creativity department without Mata

David Luiz is one hell of a goal scorer

Yep. Sturridge & Mata and Meireles are a must. Torres too. He needs to play with those players. I'm confident he'l benefit from them

Anelka was our fastest player two years ago, according to an interview.

Torres was never that fast, it was his acceleration that was so scary, which is arguably the most important thing on a football pitch.

Maybe Anelka should be competing for a place with Sturridge, a cheeky finish and a lot of greedy touches is all the later has shown so far, whereas Anelka has been quite effective this season.

Interesting

But dont you think Sturridge deserves a prolonged run in the team now?

I do think Anelka was playing against a much more open defense, which probably made him look better. Sturridge was providing us with something a little bit different which, albeit wasn't effective tonight, could hurt United. But then again Anelka normally does play well against United.

Im not saying Anelka should start over Sturridge, Im just saying that Sturridge isn't necessarily a dead cert for the start.

We now have options. Doesn't matter who starts

Torres is not on form and Drogba has been out, plus he has a poor record v Man u,so try Sturrridge,Anelka and Mata up front.

Just a thought.

Agree re the Ballack point Kenyan

He showed little frankly & was largely anonymous - before squandering a great chance that Cech smothered brilliantly...

We havn't missed him at all - nice to see him get a reception though..all the same

There was a distinct upping of tempo without JT & Lamps

it has to be said...JT will be recalled on Sunday though as will Lamps probably

& Rightly so when all said & done

Sheriff............football is a funny old game and the different way different people fans view it even stranger

I thought Ballack was superb for them last night.

He kept spoiling our play, slowing us down and winning free kicks for his team. Just what he used to do for us!

He nearly scored a great goal and for me he did more in that 60 minutes than Lampard has done for us in over a year.

When he went off they were not the same team, and it reminded me of when he went off for us two years ago when we were playing Inter.
