Not a milestone to celebrate...

Seen on Arsenal's Instagram page today... Ramsey is the 50th Arsenal player to reach 300 appearances.

My only thought was to ask how the hell he lasted long enough to do that?! And how is this anything to celebrate?!

Ramsey is a good player - as a no. 10 or CAM and is versatile enough to be used in other roles. It took him a while to recover from the horror tackle and by his own admission it took years to get the mental aspect back to near what it had been before. He just gets a lot of stick on here because people think he's being played in a role that he clearly is not thre to do. When he is being played as a deep lying midfielder or DM he is a lot beter at that job than he is doing now. The blame should be laid squarely at Wengers feet.

If the manager asks Ramsey to play as a CM alongside Xhaka then he shouldn't be bombing forward beyond our actual no 10 at every opportunity. I don't think even Wenger is stupid enough to tell him to do that, Ramsey needs to take responsibility and show some defensive discipline.

Ramsey is hardly the problem for this season's pathetic performances. At least Ramsey seems like he wants to play for the club, unlike some of the other "prima donnas".
In order to fix this mess, we need to focus outrage on the real cause(s) of the problem.
For starters how is the manager doing?
Was the club strengthened during the off-season?
Was that Arsenal's best starting line-up last week-end?
What about game preparation? Arsenal had 2-3 players looking downfield and not even paying attention prior to Liverpool's second goal!

This article isn't about slating Ramsey for this "season's pathetic performances".

The problems do stem from the manager but there are numerous articles on that subject. And the issues are twofold... threefold... multifold actually, if you want to be pedantic. The issue addressed here is how Ramsey can rack up 300 Arsenal performances, when those performances have, by and large, been mediocre.

So indirectly, it's an article bemoaning AW for persisting with Ramsey (or not bringing the best out of him) rather than lambasting Ramsey... though he DOES deserve it in parts (see twitter link above).

Yes Song,
I assume that you know the meaning of pedantic? I know what the topic was. My point was that beating up one player while the Arsenal ship is taking on water is a waste of time and requires very little brainpower, trying to make sure that the Arsenal ship does not sink does! Have a nice day.

Eveyone so quick to forget how Ramsey keeps popping up with big goals which win us finals & trophies. He is not the problem, not playing a real DM alongside him is.

Ramsey is fantastic for Wales. Almost as important to them as Bale. That's partly because he plays as a number 10 in a midfield 3, and partly because he has players with discipline behind him. They're not great players - and neither Allen or Ledley is an out-and-out DM - but they've got their roles to play and do it well. If a manager as mediocre as Coleman can bring those kind of performances out of Ramsey it shows that he does have plenty to offer, in the right set up.

Bet he'd look good at United or Chelsea. He seems an ideal Mourinho kind of player. Play him as a number 10 and then his work rate is great, but as part of a two his discipline is lacking.
