Srivaddhanaprabha to appoint Nigel Pearson

.... as new manager.

Of OH Leuven.

Interesting. I bet John Gee will be delighted.

You will never be rid of Pearson, Nev. NEVER.

Isn't this just the bonkers story of the week. Top must still have a great fondness for him and belief in his methods.

To be honest Dunge this is a little bit astounding given the way that NP left the club. You wouldn’t think that Nige would be the kind of character who could put issues behind him – or is it his failure at Derby that means he’s now short of alternatives? Whether you like Nigel, or not, there is now a clear path for him back into the club for a 3rd time and that option no longer seems fanciful.

If Everton don’t pick up the pace soon would Steve Walsh become available? The Holy Trinity could then be reunited. Would that be good for the club or a backward step into a place we’ve now moved from?

I think what's most interesting about it isn't so much that Top would hire him: They're practical business people who wish to replicate what Pearson achieved here by building up not just a team but the whole club as a platform to future success. What happened wasn't Pearson's fault directly, even though he couldn't separate himself from it. Essentially, if the Thais did hold anything against him, it wasn't so much that they couldn't put it behind them.

What's surprising to me is that Pearson himself could put what happened behind him, as he comes across as precisely the kind of person who holds a grudge. This served him well when building our club, and ensured that poisonous entities such as DJ Campbell and Matt Mills got frozen out or moved on. But it is a real surprise to me that Pearson would work under the Thais again after what happened, even if they entirely reasonable about the situation (which, from what we can ascertain, they were). Perhaps the last few years out of work and lack of other positions or trust from elsewhere have led him to re-evaluate the past and the decisions he made.

Or he was in a position where he felt he had to put family first knowing the consequences so no reason to feel any ill will to the Club right from leaving?

Not surprised at all. He went back to work for the owners after they sacked him before, and semi-sacked him mid term.

I think he's always had a good relationship with them, even if they have disagreed over the years.

Will help him in his advisory role to Shakespeare as well now 😉
