Chaps
Me again back with another thought provoking article
So whilst watching the Apoel game on Tuesday when we switched to a 4-4-2 (all be it against a lesser side) we tended to look more dangerous and Kane got himself into two positions from deep to score goals, even Sissoko looked good
I've seen a few other sides start to move away from the 3-5-1-1 system and adopt the 4-4-2 in games, as long as you have willing runners and good positional awareness (Tuesday being Dier and Winks) do you think this old fashioned system can make a return?
Given our current squad it's debatable, how can you fit in Eriksen, Dembele, Alli, Wanyama into a 4-4-2
As always, thoughts chaps?
Return of 4-4-2?

Llorente will chip in with goals given enough time on the pitch and providing we supply good delivery into the box. Our delivery into the box was pretty poor the other day, and playing our best crosser of the ball out on the left didn't help matters.
As said, 4-4-2 may be best against the weaker opposition we play and when we do we could play Llorente and have Trippier feed balls into him. Nice to know we can fall back to that successfully as another option if we have to.

Not being picky but Trippier moves over to his natural side at the same time Llorente came on and put a couple lovely crosses in.

Yeah that's how Kane got his third goal. Clearly you get the best of what Trippier can give you by playing him on the right, rather than the left. Haven't been impressed with that side of Aurier's game.

I’m not sold on Llorente either, not my kind of player. At least he has more pedigree than potential I see in Janssen.

He seems more relaxed on the ball compared to Janssen, only really had one clear chance in the games he's played

That’s probably because he’s experience player where Janssen is a youngish trying to impress.
Tbh they are at opposite ends of there careers.
Come next summer I think we’ll be looking again for another striker

Very much agree on that H, but who wants to play second fiddle to Kane, that being the major problem
We have no good young strikers coming through?

I'm fine with Llorente. Nobody else we bring in is going to knock Kane off his perch, so better to have a player experienced and proven in the PL, seen as more a short term signing, who can do what Janssen does as well as be more of a threat in the box.

I think the team looks more comfortable with Llorente in the side than Janssen as well; more happy to pass the ball to Fernando. Also I did that the pass he played for Dele was v.good and Dele should have scored.
