Winks

Been named to the England squad, following Delph withdrawing

Happy for the lad, he's looked really good since coming back for us and is certainly deserving of a place if someone like Jake Livermore is

Winks

Its a weird one this for me, I think he is a good midfielder and the kind that England need. Yet he hasn't done enough to warrant a place yet.

People moan about Winks getting a cap, but if we are being honest Southgate didn't have many options - such is the lack of quality in midfield. If the options are Harry Winks or Noble or Delph you know that it isn't a position we are strong in.

There was big cry at the weekend from the pundits for the inclusion of jonjo Shelvey, a different sort of midfielder a midfielder who could spray passes about. Well that's what Harry winks can do.

There is a tremendous upside to winks and he is a player that will improve without the disciplinary risk lottery like aforementioned shelvey.

Ox-chamberlain got in a ridiculous amount of squads despite barely bench warming for Arsenal and showing very little of note in performances other than giving the ball under no pressure.

the only other option really to call up was Wilshere I think and forget he plays for Arsenal he looks championship standard at best these days and again he isn't playing apart from against part timers in the Europa.

Given that a 3rd of the squad haven't done an awful lot to be there, Winks being given the nod is a very good thing. Good luck to the lad and well done.

Seeing as a number of players have been dropping out why is promoting from the U21s such a bad thing? Winks has played in the U21s numerous times and played numerous times in Spurs first team last season before injury.

He is a prime example of being deserving of a call up when the seniors are short on numbers. Players like Shelvey and Noble are a complete waste of time now no matter what they have to offer.

If I were an Arsenal fan would I want Wilshire to play for England while he still trying to regain fitness?

I understand the bar codes are upset that Winks got the call before Jonjo Shelvy. I have to admit I have only seen Shelvy play a few times (he was very good against the pool the other day) but should he have gotten the nod before Winks?

Shelvey had his chance, Winks is a solid player who will put a shift in, like how he carries the ball also

Although Winks has not played often, he is attempting to get in what is may not be the strongest midfield pair in the country, but is certainly a strong contender for it.

Of the other options available for Southgate, would anyone swap them for Winks in the sqaud?

If we had the opportunity for a straight swap for Winks with anyone who has not made the cut, would anyone take it, and if so who would it be?

Bear in mind Tottenham's Winks will be England's Winks - not a starter
