Hull 2 V 3 Forest Match Thread

What do we know about Hull then? A City perhaps better known for playing Rugby League? [Hull F.C founded in 1865] and to my generation landing Cod and Herring.
Time passes and life changes however and Hull City F.C are a well established Championship and yo-yo Premiership Team.

Hull City is a professional football club in Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire, England. Founded in 1904, the club plays in the Championship, the second tier of English football. They played in the top-flight of English football for the first time after being promoted in the 2007-08 season. Their highest ever finish was 16th in the 2013/14 season, when they also reached the final of the FA Cup.

Leonid Sl_tsky is the manager [a name that slips rather than rolls off the tongue] and the performance of his team is as difficult to predict , as his name is to pronounce. And indeed impossible to get past the JA606 Filter Admin!

Hull 4-0 Bolton Wanderers 25th Aug'

Derby 5-0 Hull 8th Sept'

Hull 6-1 Brum 30th Sept'

After finding the key to unlock the away door at Barnsley at the weekend, Leonid Sl_tsky was quick to move the focus onto next Saturday's home game against Nottingham Forest.

And with the Tigers' fans proving to be his team's twelfth man at Oakwell, Sl_tsky is hoping they will once again roar his side on as they play their first game at the KCOM Stadium since the 6-1 thrashing of Birmingham.

"We are thinking only about our next match and Nottingham Forest will be another difficult game," said Sl_tsky.

Hull City have signed Burton Albion midfielder Jackson Irvine for an undisclosed fee on a three-year deal.

Irvine, a 24-year-old Australian international, has put pen to paper on a three-year deal which also includes the option of an additional year.

Born in Melbourne, Irvine moved to the UK to join Celtic's youth set-up in 2010 and played for Ross County before joining Burton in 2016.

Since then, he has scored 11 times in 49 appearances for the Brewers, including a fine strike against the Tigers at the KCOM Stadium on 12th August, scoring Burton's consolation goal in their 4-1 loss.

Signed from Wolverhampton Wanderers in August 2017, Nouha Dicko further adds to Head Coach Leonid Sl_tsky's attacking options.

Capped once by Mali, Dicko began his career with French club Strasbourg before moving to England where he had a successful trial with Wigan Athletic. However, after just one League Cup appearance, the striker was loaned out to Blackpool for the second half of the 2011/12 season.

Dicko found himself back at Bloomfield Road, again on loan, at the start of the 2012/13 campaign before further loan moves to Wolverhampton Wanderers and Rotherham United followed.

Eventually, Dicko found a permanent home with Wolves and it was during his time at Molineux that he found his best form, hitting 13 goals in 19 appearances to fire his new side to the League One title in 2014.

He continued to find the net with regularity in the Championship, scoring 15 times in Wolves' first season back at that level, but injury meant that his 2015/16 campaign didn't move beyond September.

After a long lay-off, his form began to return towards the end of 2016/17 and it was a goal scored against the Tigers in the early weeks of 2017/18 that prompted Leonid Sl_tsky to bring the forward to East Yorkshire.

Michael Hector is enjoying partnering Michael Dawson at the heart of the Tigers’ defence, and has highlighted the benefits of playing alongside one of English football’s most experienced centre-backs.

Now a veteran of the game, Dawson boasts over 500 career appearances in all competitions. Having spent just short of a decade playing in the top flight with Spurs, the 33-year-old has also experienced Champions League and Europa League football as well as being capped by England four times.

Hector is grateful to have the opportunity to learn from such an experienced head and spoke in glowing terms about his relationship with Dawson and what his fellow centre-back offers to the team.

“‘Daws’ is someone I obviously watched as a kid and it’s fantastic to have the opportunity to play alongside someone with his experience," said Hector.

So what of Forest and their chances this weekend? The scoreline against Burton probably flatters to deceive, they could have had a penalty and Eric's goal line clearance was crucial.

The last time Forest won at the KCOM Stadium was in the 2012/13 season winning 1-2; the only two players still at the club from that squad are Dimy Evtimov and Chris Cohen!

What is very clear is that Forest need to switch on and keep things tight at the back and the score 0-0 for the first 20 minutes. If Hull score a couple of early goals they may well score a hat full.

Wow, what a game!

Our passing game is really starting to click. Great goals from Dowell and to be fair, we could have had a few more. Osborn was desperately unlucky.

Just one point outside the play-offs and Reading (A) and QPR (H) coming up before the International break. Three wins from four, so our confidence will be high going into those two. Another six points please lads!

Great result!

3 wins out of 4 👍 Vaughan comes back and like nothing happened, form improves.

Strange that warburton has an almost relegated team one point off the play offs on something like 60% of the average championship budget, and there are still people out there that want him out.

Football fans are a odd breed.

Yes a very good performance from the lads, defence looks a lot more confident.

Only slight downer is that Dowell is likely to be recalled by Everton come January if he continues scoring like that.

Hi guys,

Everton fan in peace. Watched your game yesterday, checking in on young Dowell, great hat-trick for the lad.

I've seen him a couple of times for you when you've been on TV and he's done well from what I've seen, christ, with all the no.10's we've bought, it seems the best one we already had and was sent out on loan!

Hope he continues to do well for you and helps brings you guys back up, been too long without Forest in the top flight.

We will be happy with a top half season after last year.

The lad has a lot of attributes and could go a long way; he just needs to keep playing in proper games either with you or us and not left to stagnate in under 21s.

Same applies to the victorious England U17s if our senior team is to succeed.

Nice one. Been too long since we’ve been to Goodison!

I remember going to Goodison for our first match after Sir Brian got us promoted.

Won 3-1; the rest is history.

Goodison was also one of the first away grounds I went to; Christmas 1960. The 'Golden Vision' played for them on a very misty afternoon. It all ended in tears that day, 6-0 to the toffees. I think Ale Scott got a hat trick.

I remember the 5-0 one Sunday afternoon on the tele when Cloughie lamabasted the team afterwards and called them a bunch of pansies!

Also remember the 1-0 win under Big Ron and a fleeting thought that Forest might escape relegation...
