International week update...

Halfway through the international break and most of the play offs hang in the balance.

UEFA
Switzerland and Sweden head into the second legs with a one goal advantage over Northern Ireland and Italy respectively.
Croatia have all but qualified with a 4-1 win over Greece.
Denmark and Ireland head to Dublin goalless.

Switzerland v Northern Ireland is at 5pm this evening, followed by Greece v Croatia at 7.45. Italy host Sweden tomorrow night, and the Irish entertain the Danes on Tuesday.

Inter-continental play offs
No goals in the first legs between Honduras and Australia nor New Zealand and Peru.
The second legs are on Wednesday night in Australia and Peru.

AFRICA
Tunisia, Morocco and Senegal joined Egypt and Nigeria in qualifying.
Morocco's 2-0 win over Cote d'Ivoire means the Ivorians are out. A similar scoreline for Senegal over South Africa means Cape Verde, Burkina Faso and South Africa miss out. A 0-0 draw was enough for Tunisia to hold off the challenge of DR Congo.

So, after 3 consecutive World Cups, 2018 will see neither Ghana nor Cote d'Ivoire represent Africa. 2014s best African team, Algeria also miss out and Cameroon fail to qualify for only the second time since 1990.
Egypt have their first appearance since 1990, and North Africa is well represented with Morocco and Tunisia joining them.
Nigeria and Senegal represent West Africa.

Only 6 places left up for grabs now.

That was a good side in 98. Hadji, Chippo and Bassir. Brazil shafted them by losing to Norway in last 10 mins from a goal up.

1998 and 2002 World Cups were the best World Cups I have seen in my life since I started watching international football in 1998.
