Firstly, I don’t think that result matters in the slightest. The group was won before tonight and I can’t see it having any bearing on our league form.
We should’ve been a goal or two up at half time but we were awful 2nd half. Complete overreaction by some fans though.
My gripe tonight was with Jose’s substitutions. 1st sub. Rashford has played some part in every game for United and probably England since the start of the season. Was it really necessary to bring him on? I know Lingard was poor but he needs game time. Just rest Rashford for 90 mins.
2nd sub. Right decision to take off Pogba but again why bring on Matic? McTominay would have benefitted more from the game time.
3rd. Right to give Zlatan minutes but why not take off Lukaku instead of Martial? Lukaku has played much more football than Martial and was having a poor game. Why play him out of position and take off Martial?
Also no point in putting Shaw in the squad if you’re never going to play him? What did he learn from playing Blind tonight other than he’s a bang average left back?
