Here we go again...

http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/42116499

He's not wrong; Mkhitaryan has been absolute bobbins for weeks and weeks now. His issue with drifting in and out of games whilst still contributing game-changing moments has shifted to drifting in and out of games and when he does get ahold of the ball being shunted straight off it or misplacing a pass.

But is public criticism what he needs? Does it really work? Every player is different, but it doesn't appear to have with Shaw. And although it didn't appear to do any damage to Mkhi's relationship with Mou the first time this happened, we are where we are again, with the player looking an absolute shadow of the one we saw at Dortmund.

Beyond that point, a second question looms: if Dortmund were serious about taking him back for a decent fee, should we shrug our shoulders at a punt that hasn't worked on a player simply unsuited to English football, let him go, and buy what we needed in the first place (being a proper right winger); or do we persevere and hope Mkhi adapts to the lack of space and physicality players see in the final third in Premier League football and ups his game?

When have managers ever publicly slaughtered players?

Don't remember Fergie ever doing it. He would defend them to the hilt in public.

Its a strange tactic by Mourinho to be honest.

Dig a player out on the training ground or dressing room absolutely fine.

Doing it publicly is just weird and has never happened, its nothing to do with modern pampered players.

Off the top of my head I remember Fergie slaughtering Nani after a league cup game with Chelsea.

I think that was over one stupid decision rather criticising his form though.

At Dortmund Mkhi had more space to work with, he wasn't getting barged in the back all game, and he didn't have to work particularly hard to win the ball back.

There's no doubting that he cannot play the same way he did at Dortmund here. And he would have exactly the same problem whichever top PL side he was at.

He'd actually probably fare much better at a midtable side using a counterattacking game.

Team should’ve been build around Mata, with pace of a Rashford, Martial and Lukaku in front of him and Pogba and Matic behind.

No brainier really.

Fergie did publicly criticise players when he thought they needed it. Rooney is a prime example.

Jose knows exactly what he is doing. No doubt that he has tried talking the Mikhy behind closed doors and now feels like a public message is the best option.

It worked with Martial and Jones, not so much with Shaw. Each player is different and Jose is good at finding what makes each one tick.
Look at the the way he managed the Lukaku incident, he knew that what Lukaku needed at the time was a public support. Same with Lindof earlier in the season.

Although I think Mata should be sat firmly in the midfield alongside Pogba with Matic behind, I otherwise could not agree more.

Matas been bang average when played though the middle as well.

We need a right sided winger, and a new attacking mid/ number 10 to replace Rooney. Mane style.

Would make such a difference to our style of play instead of everyone hoping Pogba doesn't get injured again each week.
