For Those Who Could not Attend

For Those who Did Not Attend. Tuesday 28th Nov 2017

Visitors - Ipswich Tractor Boys
Referee - Scott Duncan
Crowd. 24,475.
Weather/Conditions. Calm, bitterly cold and wintry
Team. Carson Baird, Keogh, Davis, Forsyth
Ledley, Huddlestone, Weimann, Lawrence
Nugent, Vydra, Russell.

Subs. Mitchell, Olsson, Thorne, Pearce, Thomas etc.

A second attempt at an earlier league game that was cancelled because of a cup match. A win would establish us in the play-off positions. But that wily old bird Mick McCarthy would not go along with that notion. I didn’t see any lack of mental preparation this time. Derby played well enough but circumstances gave huge relevance to McCarthy’s game plan. They scored within just a few minutes of the start. Derby gave away a corner which was whipped in by Waghorn straight to Connolly who headed onto the bar and down for goal-line technology to register a goal.

After that Ipswich wasted time, put all 11 players behind the ball, fouled at every opportunity (in safe positions) and successfully frustrated all of Derby’s first half adventuring. In the second half Derby were much more threatening but somehow the ball just would not go over the line. And at least one penalty was denied, damage to the Rams made much worse by inflicting a totally undeserved booking on Lawrence.

For Ipswich - Waghorn made things difficult for Derby and (I think) Skues also. For Derby Forsyth had a bad one - all night. Keogh, Vydra, Weimann and Ledley all played well. Ledley was shaping to be my MOTM until he missed an easy goal (he is usually so composed but lost it on that occasion). Lawrence did what he often does, gets himself in great situations and just fails at the last. The ref was good except for his penalty denial and booking of Lawrence. That was crass. Martin just couldn’t get control of the ball when he dis sometimes get decent passes. I don’t know where Weimann and Vydra get there every from. They put in a lot of work. But it was one of those games when nothing came off. If we are putting a lot of faith in the return of Thorne I am beginning to think we could be disappointed. Though, with average luck or more final skill, we would have scored 2 or 3 goals and we would all be feeling better. It was a frustrating night.

But - ONWARDS and UPWARDS. - We are, after all, still in the play-off positions.

Spot on Sheepy, that would be a landslide.

VC - I think you are confusing hard left with left due to the political centre ground shifting so far to the right. This shifting to the right has seen most in need and the vulnerable be totally used and abused, now they see hope in the Labour Manefesto that puts us all first and not just the wealthy. Most of the policies are seen as normal across Europe, Nationalising the railways is generally supported, The French have state owned energy, I suppose you are happy paying your hard earned to heat your house to the French government who own part of our energy network, or maybe you lobby against it because you'd like to see the profits go to some rich investment fund manager sitting in his super yacht in the med. what I'd like is to see that huge amount of money be paid back to the treasury and spent on the network and surplus going to the NHS. Education. Defence etc. We are a very wealthy country, we can build our own infrastructure like council housing and manage it locally so the rent is put towards maintenance and additional housing plus local regeneration schemes. It will also give pride back to people who just want a home to live in that doesn't cost them.all of their salaries.

I could go on and on and on but I don't see what's so hard left about this.

The glass is half empty and is getting worse daily.
Things will get worse before they get better.
The NHS will be owned by a foreign investment company.
Boris or Rees-Mogg will be PM.
Derby County will beat Nottingham Forest in the Play-off FinaL

VC10, WHATEVER CORBYN/MCDONNELL DO CANNOT BE WORSE THAN WHAT THIS LOT OF HALF-WITS ARE DOING.
Ken Clarke and Dominic Grieve are the only Tories with their feet on the ground.

OH YES IT CAN.

Ken Clarke was a good chancellor but his love for the EU puts me off him, he even wanted to join the Euro! The only good thing Gordon Brown ever did was not joining.

I voted remain, but if we had the referendum again I’d vote leave.
Since the referendum our orders are up 40% and shows no sign of abating and we are recruiting. UK manufacturing in general is at the highest rate for many a year, exports are up and morale is high. For a region that relies on manufacturing we should all be celebrating.

I’ve also had enough of the moaning remainers. Owen Jones and the other snowflakes at the Guardian need rounding up.

666 is always chatting me up, and Vidal fantasises about me in the shower; he has a Derby tattoo on his left buttock.
