Newcastle have just levelled having offered zero attacking threat. We have been poor today but should comfortably have seen off this lot.
We might still do in the end but whatever the outcome the defence is an absolute shambles - worst I have seen it since promotion to the PL
We have single handedly conspired to bring an awful Newcastle right back into this game after dominating it - all because we can't clear a corner or even track the run of Dwight Gayle. Puel will be blowing an absolute fuse at this lot for potentially chucking this away
A defensive shambles

BS - I completely disagree with one of your points on Morgan: I think marking is one of the strongest aspects of his game. And I've seen it from him this season.

Marking at set pieces Dunge? I haven't seen a huge amount of that from him and he's always had a weakness in ball watching for me and losing a player in the box
Also I don't think Huth being there would make the difference everyone thinks. Remember how dreadful Huth and Morgan were in Ranieris second season? It was after the title win that this all started - both Huth and Morgan looked awful for much of that season and i actually wonder if the defensive coaching changed in that period.
Don't get me wrong he's more experienced than maguire and better at dealing with corners than Morgan but those two looked lost for much of last season.

I disagree. For me this season, Morgan's been the only reliable marker from set pieces.
But anyway, I'm not advocating Huth coming back in as such because I can't see that he has a big role in Puel's philosophy. Morgan is passable at playing out from the back but I can't imagine Puel would want both him and Huth forming that partnership any more despite its relative defensive positives. (Granted last season they weren't great, but who was? And they fixed it later on.)

Different views today. Also thought that was one of Chilwell’s best games.
But agree with BS in that we were a defensive shambles which I include the midfield in. No protection of the back 4.
Also agree that Maguire is a bit of a liability. Moments of brilliance but he needs to learn discipline. That’s why Huth and Morgan worked so well - they knew exactly what the other would do. Maguire is unpredictable - that’s great for a centre forward, but a centre back??!

The opposition are never credited with good play ( Geordies first ?) Its always our defence.

I didn't see this, so I'm only being guided by the atrocious radio Leicester commentary. Dare I suggest that inserting a shinji for one of our weak links Riyad or Gray would improve us defensively.

Not sure it would Nuneaton - set pieces are the main issue for us imo.

Delighted with the result but not the defensive performance. Make no mistake Newcastle are by far the worst team I've seen us play bar Everton and we almost contrived to throw the game away. The goals were our doing not Newcastles.
Really positive going forward but better teams will punish us badly.

Mersey - it's a weird one on chilwell. He's so assured on the ball at times yet look at what he did yesterday - he literally squared the ball across his own box straight to a Newcastle player who should have scored. How can Matt Elliot give him man of the match when he made such a shocking error
That wasn't his only one either - he got robbed of the ball in key positions a couple of times. That said he's a real talent and I advocate him being picked, just like Demarai Gray who is proving all his doubters wrong, it's just that he still has some learning to do obviously

I agree BS - Chilwell is still extremely raw. In a recent interview Puel said the same though. He’s got the ability but not the tactical awareness.
However, I can see for the first time potential in him. Purl should be good for him to improve his defensive positioning and decision making.
Fuchs look like he had a point to prove when he came on so that’s a good thing!
