NOW is the time to start thinking ahead

First off, through gritted teeth, i've got to give credit to City. They are just an incredible side with an exceptional manager. Honestly, what this guy does with his teams is pretty special. Unfortunately, I think they will dominate this league whilst he remains in charge of them. If his history is anything to go by though, that probably won't be for long. 2 more seasons maybe. And I think we've seriously got to think about what our gameplan is going to be in that time.

I don't think Jose has done a bad job at all. It's unfortunate for him that he's come up against this City side - in any other season we'd be well in the mix for the title. But after what we've seen over the last 4 seasons I think one thing is certain: when he goes, the United board will be under some serious pressure to appoint a manager with real, attacking philosophies. And when that happens, I think we'll see another slump for a season or two. A transition phase where certain players who are important to the current Jose side are moved on and our style of play evolves.

Firstly, that to me highlights the need for some sort of DoF type figure. This aimless chopping and changing of managers with no apparent logical thought behind it has done some of our players no good at all. But it also raises the question as to whether it might be wise to cut ties with Jose sooner rather than later. Yes, I see the contradiction in what i've just said. But if we are to enter a transition phase, is it better to do it during a period where City are rampant anyway, and put ourselves in a position to strike when Pep leaves?

It would be an enourmous call to make and I don't for a minute expect the board to get rid of him. And that's fair enough. But if Paris came calling this summer I don't think it would be the worst thing in the world.

Sack the guy who's just won us two pots, including a European trophy we'd never won, has us progressing comfortably in the CL, has made us incredibly difficult to beat at home, and has us comfortably second place in the league behind possibly currently the best side in club football anywhere in the world which nobody will get near.

OK.

Ok, forgetting that Jose waaaost gifted the Europa with the easiest run of fixtures ever, and that he's spent millions on the team, yes, he has won trophies and progressed through an easy CL group.

It's much too early to think about replacing him. He's only part through his job here, and has turned us into a tough to beat side.

Could we eventually see two oil states bankrupt themselves fighting over Pep?

I could see PSG coming in with a EUR796tn offer for his services in the summer.

Still yet to see any suggestions for a replacement come from the 'Jose out' crew...

Young, hungry, attacking managers that might do a better job than Mourinho?

Don't worry we can gamble with 3 or 4 till we get it right sort of how we gambled with defensive mind numbing managers.

At this point I'll start with Silva, go on to the Bournemouth manager, sell pogba to get pochettino till we can get pep.

The point is, a team which it's system is defend completely and try score some chances by telling them to faf around is not what we as a club should be shooting for. We have spent way to much to settle for mediocre football Big Sam could probably offer given the same cash. How do you all not get frustrated that complete attacking performances from our attacking players be counted in one finger? Best players are a goalkeeper and 2 30sometjing converted fullbacks, and you do not think it's a product of management? We deserve better, honestly.
