Leeds Utd v Forest Matchday Thread

Hot on the heels of Red Forest Bears Match Thread comes the Leeds United version .
Hoping for a better start to 2018 than the finish of 2017, a pretty dire display from the Lads down in Brum but i'm sure they'll be looking to turn things around and get back to Winning Ways

Venue...Elland Road...Date 1st Jan 2018...Kick Off .. 15:00hrs

Match facts
Leeds haven't won both league matches against Forest in a single season since 1971-72 when they were managed by Don Revie.
Forest have lost their last two league games against Leeds since a run of eight without defeat between December 2012 and August 2016.
Leeds have won their last two home league matches 1-0 - they haven't won three in a row by that score since October 1980.
Forest have kept one clean sheet in their last away 19 matches in all competitions, a 1-0 win at Sunderland in September 2017.
The Whites have won each of their last six league matches played on a Monday in the month of January, most recently a 3-0 win over Rotherham in January last year.

So there you have it, we had a bit of a hiccup last Saturday but I think the 12th man the Elland Road Faithful could have a major impact on the outcome of this one 2-0 with Roofey and Alioski netting

How many indicators do people need that we will not be doing much this January?
Phil Hay is just reiterating what others have said previously.
Not expecting a top six finish this time around, big summer of activity again but also Saiz, Alioski and others will have had a year to bed in and I expect them to have improved.
My view is 2018/19 will be the year when the phoenix starts to rise again.

How do you know Phil Hay has all the info? Why would AR tell a journalist that we are going to spend this month?

Highinbottom gave bridcutt MOM, telling that the pundit team highlighted saiz play and not bridcutts. Saiz best player on the pitch comfortably for me.

Stoopo, I think it was Kinnear who said that little business would be done in January. Hay just re-reporting old news.

With due respect to all Leeds United fans we are not comparable to Liverpool at this time.

Comparing Coutinho and Wood’s situation is simply not a valid comparison.

I’d even go so far as to speculate that both clubs had conversations with the players and in one case convinced the player to stay and couldn’t do the same with the second.

Slavery ended some time ago and employers cannot force employees to work and demand they be happy.

Why are they not comparable?

Liverpool stood firm in face of numerous offers, Leeds did not.

I don’t think any employer anywhere demands that their staff are happy and that is not the point being discussed here it’s about honouring contracts.

The gulf between Liverpool and Barcelona and Leeds and Burnley is far smaller atm, and Coutinho can sit back earning 150k a week knowing that Barca will come sniffing next transfer window. Wood didn't have that luxury.

They are not remotely comparable.

There could not be a better example of club exercising string management however much you might try and excuse it away.

The clubs have the power they just make you think the players do, so that they can take the money.

A more relevant comparison would be another FL player that was given the chance to go to a Prem club that didn't go.

I'm confident there are many examples of stronger championship club management.

I will wait to read about those other cases.
