I don't really know why I'm writing this article as I wasn't at the game and didn't even really follow it on the radio or social media, but I thought I might as well do something since I haven't really written anything over the last week or so.
Apparently it was a game of two halves, with United fairly poor in the first half and then ramping it up in the second to seal victory. Durnan gave us the lead just before the break which always helps lift the team, then new man Emil Lyng got his first goal for the club to seal the result.
So erm, yeah, United marched through against well known cheaters Alloa and will now face Aberdeen at the Dungheap in the next round, which of course will undoubtedly end our adventures in the Scottish Cup for this season and allow us to focus on our efforts to overtake St Mirren in the league.
To be honest I'm not confident. I think we have three key players in our team this season, Durnan, Fyvie and Fraser, and the last two are going to miss the rest of the season. That's hard for any team to cope with. Since they've been injured we've not played well and it's going to be a challenge for Csaba to find a style of play that suits us.
It seems he's gone for height though, and we welcomed back Mikkelsen to the club after he left in the summer for an unsuccessful spell at Ross County. With Lyng and Mikkelsen available, we have two pretty tall Scandinavian forwards and that perhaps hints at what we're going to do. Scott McDonald now appears to be our number 10, which concerns me.
It's also worth noting that we have signed Stanton on a permanent deal, which I think is good business.

I would think it has a good chance of being on television, which will be good for the coffers but bad for our reputation, as Aberdeen are likely to give us a right good hammering.
I think I've managed to disguise it for some time now, but we are actually quite pash.

Looked like we were lucky not to go a goal down right at the start! Banana skin avoided though. Pleased with the Stanton signing, his pass for our second goal was on the money and I like him as a player.

Hopefully it gives us a little bit of a lift as the players don't seem at their most confident right now. We need to kick on again in the league and get a couple of results.

The family got a good deal on hospitality. I shall not be making the trip to Inverness on a Tuesday night.
I do not think whoever gets to the play off final will be promoted. Reckon Inverness can still get there.

Mark - I don't disagree with you. I think there is a gulf between the Premiership and the Championship. The quality is fairly poor to be frank.
