Follows stories of a Β£50-60m bid from City.
How many players do they need?
Pity we cannot try to nip in.

He’s not going anywhere as we have no replacement lined up. We are selling him in the summer - likely to City although I expect Chelsea to be very keen if Hazard goes. He’s no way near Hazards standard though.....

Mahrez outshone our whole team two weeks ago at the Bridge, hadn't seen him play that well since Leicester won the league.

Yeah he’s back to his best but how long for? That’s the problem with him - will go through periods where he goes missing, especially if the team around him isn’t performing. He’s also incredibly lazy

I find this hard to believe to be honest.
Am struggling to see why City need another right winger, not why they would bid in january when he was cheaper last summer.

New FFP rules are to come into force in the summer. Clubs can't spend more than £90m net.
So City are probably trying to get round that by signing players now.
But then that begs the question, in doing so now are they staying within current FFP rules? If they couldn't afford Alexis Sanchez, how can they afford both Laporte and Mahrez, whose individual costs will be higher than the deal for Sanchez?

Looks more and more like they were trying to soften the blow of losing him to Utd.

FFP. Whatever happened to that?
