Spurs 2 v 0 Huddersfield Town

Tottenham Hotspur v Huddersfield Town
Sat 03 March, Wembley Stadium, kick off 3pm

The matches will feel to be coming thick and fast now. Not much room for errors, but quite a few will be made by all home and away teams. It’s vital that the Town players stay focussed and for Wagner to plan the right tactics. Opponents must be pressed, harried and hassled! The defenders to concentrate on set pieces and minimise the threats. Our midfield has to be more creative. There should be enough talent there to drive the team forward, alas, it only seems to come from Pritchard alone. The attack need to finish their limited opportunities, I’ve been banging on about this all season. Town simply need to score more goals.

Matches don’t come any bigger than this! Spurs are one of the most free flowing teams in the Premier League and in Europe. Their players are exciting to watch and when they are ‘on it’, they are unstoppable! Rochdale have proven to be no pushovers in the FA Cup and doggedly pushed Spurs for two hours of football. Obviously, the north London club showed their pedigree in the second half of the FA Cup 5th round replay and displayed their silky skills. No humiliation for Rochdale though, they have had their final at Wembley last night and they also had a great run in the cup.

So, what can we expect from this Saturday’s encounter? Spurs weren’t overly impressive against Crystal Palace last weekend. If it wasn’t for Harry Kane’s late goal, Spurs may have been kicking themselves over a lost opportunity and a lack lustre performance. Kane was obviously rested for the match against Rochdale in anticipation for the Premier League fixture against Town. We should be expecting a no fear attitude from the Terriers. However, anything can happen and another spanking by Spurs may be on the menu.

This question goes out to the Spurs and Terrier fans. Are Town fitting of a bottom three finish, or are two other teams worse than Huddersfield Town? Most Town fans will suggest two other teams are worthy of the drop. I suggest Newcastle and possibly Southampton could be playing Championship football next season. Has the Premier League table ever been so tight? Six points splits the bottom third placing and mid table! For the neutrals, it could be great entertainment watching the last few fixture battles. For the teams and fans involved fighting relegation, this period may be a complete nerve jangler.

Tottenham Hotspur, like Town, don’t have the luxury of satisfactory points for their endeavours. Spurs need the points, just like Town, so this match should be hotly contested. If the Spurs players come in to this match thinking they just need to turn up, then they may end up with egg on their faces.

The weather may play a big part in relation to who wins the match. Which team has the most players who are uncomfortable playing when it’s bitterly cold? Will the Town fans want to travel? Will the match be called off? The ‘beast from the east’ has caused a fair bit of disruption. Everyone attending the match may even experience hyperthermia.

I’m looking forward to watching Town compete against Spurs again. Town started the first encounter well, but sadly were unable to pose a real threat and ended the game comprehensively beaten. For this Saturday’s encounter, Town must play better.

The Town fans on JA606 know I have a soft spot for Spurs. I hope we are able to respect each other and this match thread is a positive experience.

Wagner would have learnt from the lesson Pochettino handed out. DW will hopefully set the lads up with attacking intent, without being naive this time. Let’s have some match predictions, what are you thinking?

Last five Premier League fixture results, Spurs DWDWW and Town LLLWW. No guessing whose form is better.

One point shared from this fixture wouldn’t be a disaster for either club. However, I doubt very much this match being a bore draw. I surmise there will be goals, one or two to be scored by Kane.

One player Spurs need to be aware of, he didn’t play in the last fixture against Tottenham, is Alex Pritchard, he’s a dynamic footballer. Gets in to small pockets of play and he’s very nimble footed. He’s a dangerous player and hopefully in the penalty area.

I hope this coming match will be a cracker, with goals and with an outcome of both teams sharing one point.

Arsenal superb performance tonight,
Very easy on the eye to watch. !
How come they've been so bad/poor this last fortnight ?
Milan at home, and on a terrific run of form themselves. Humbled. ?
I can't fathom it out.

Didn't watch it. Wenger just needs to retire imo. He's loaded and pushing 70.
