Bolton Wanderers v Preston North End

The only north west derby match of the season today at the macron. As I write the match is definitely on. No snow since Thursday and the winds have stopped. It blooming cold though, seen penguins wandering about so 5 layers minimum today. 5 championship matches off already including direct rivals Barnsley, Burton and reading who will have a nice rest ahead of our game against them Tuesday night. Preston will be a tough nut to crack. Since getting beat 3-0 at Ipswich in November their away record is won 4 drawn 4 and will be motivated for a win which would put them one point off the play offs. To match that at least Boltons home form in good. Won 4 drawn 2 since the defeat by Burton. Team news. The only players definitely out are little and Henry who finish their suspensions today. Again the question is what concoction will pp come up with today? 3-5-2, 4-5-1 which finished last Saturday at Norwich? A midfield surprise? Josh vela fit to return? Kirchoff fit to start? Who knows.

We have strikers who can score but not getting any service from a terrible midfield and the way pp sets us up. Can only think of a couple of set pieces first half where we might have scored. Shearer in his pomp would struggle in this side. Felt sorry for alf yesterday trying to get his head on long kicks from Alnwick. Walker struggled on his own. When I saw him at forest he was on the right wing and used his pace to get balls in the box. That with dervite at right back. Square pegs in round holes. Doesn't seem to want to use the players ken got him. Not using Flanagan when little banned is a mystery. Not using clough. Mystery. Don't know where pps head is at the moment. Putting will brown on was either a heads gone or two fingers up to people.

You are probably right but our lack of goals from all departments is poor and has been all season, otherwise we wouldn't be in the position we are in. At least Madine did score.

Two Part Quiz

1- When will the Beano announce Obasi's international clearance has gone through ?

Is Sammy broke won't be able to make tomorrow he has a note excusing him from PE and games

If Sammy is injured and he doesn't play Clough he should be sacked for that alone. Been behind parky but getting really puzzled by his selections and anyone see the channel 5 interview on Saturday? Broken man. Wonder if ken is looking at the small print in Parky's contract?

The Prof P's unwillingness to try something different even before somebody left and the overall poor management from him did it for me. He had a chance to prove his cv wrong he isn't going to do that whatever happens we couldn't risk another season with him from what we've seen this season so far.
I therefore conclude it was a mistake not to change manager once they'd had a couple of weeks to sober up after the promotion party.

Parky in this mornings Beano, says one of the strikers has to step up and score goals.
But doesn’t mention changing the hoofball tactics to enable the strikers to get the ball on the floor. Or why Will Brown the oldest donkey in the championship has
failed to score using the hoofball tactics.
The two strikers who should play tonight Alf & Clough are around 6 inches smaller than the donkey, so please Parky
Tell the players to play the ball through midfield on the floor to the two front men, when they start to tire try Walker & Hall but keep the ball coming on the floor through midfield it’s that simple. Just give it a try not much else is working.

It's quite difficult to sack a manager who has just got you promotion, especially when the petty cash tin is empty. We have only just paid the tax man and not been able to buy a player for quite some time. I don't think he's good enough but I did think he deserved a chance. That chance is now coming to an end but will he be sacked? I don't think Ken will end his tenure just yet. I think Ken has dreams of staying in this division with PP. We will see.

Parky is to one dimensional so all teams know how to set up agains us, yes he got us promoted ( by the skin of his teeth ) it could just as easily have gone the other way he got lucky.
His man management seems ok ,he bonded the players credit for that, but can we ask the players he has signed and are never seen they may have a different story On Parkys bonding.
For a team to have so many squad players who are never involved, you would think we were a very wealthy club. All those wages would surely pay for an half decent striker.
Over To Parky to give us an explanation just how this works, and what’s the point in Wilbraham 🤔

Unfortunately, we don't make the decisions. there is a lot that isn't right but if we stay up will Ken keep him? I have a feeling that he will. He will know that PP has had his hands tied behind his regarding the lack of finances. As far as tactics and use of the squad is concerned Ken may not be thinking along the same lines as the fans. PP obviously falls into line with Ken regarding Cutting costs and has tolerated not having money to spend and the sale of his best striker, Madine. It's just as well because we obviously needed to cut costs drastically in order to survive.

As far as the fans are concerned I think we would have liked Eddie Davies to have sold the club to someone with real money. Ken is just a caretaker owner who wants to put the club in a financially viable position so that he can sell it as soon as possible and make a shed full of cash in the bargain.
