Hullo, hullo Mum

Am totally off the happy pills after just doing cold turkey, but my sleep pattern is shot this week, so lying awake for hours........please humour me!

Today is mother's day first, and Rangers beating, sorry playing Celtic, second.

To all the mammy's out of here.....thankyou💓

I got asthma at three, so mum spent much of her life looking after me and going to the Royal hospital on the Falls road, right in the worst parts of 1969 to the seventies.

My heart stopped during one asthma attack and a local doctor saved my life another time, so tough times for mum..and dad.And there were four kids to look after.

Dad worked all hours and played sport, so mum was always there and I was/ am your typical Irish..hmmm Ulster mummy's boy.....mum is more like a big sister or mate really.

Mum is a very modest, quiet and reserved wee woman, but staunch as fook, and still takes my breath away with some of her views....at 85, mum sees a different world.

I married a catholic, and one gay brother had a civil partnership with a Dublin boy, My other gay brother lives with a left wing Catholic republican and my sister had two failed marriages, and now lives with a Catholic bloke, so conservative staunch mum has her work cut out😀

After cancer took ma dad, I was working close to mum so could pop in at lunch to bring her food, chat about fitba, rugby, tennis or politics, but four years ago I got moved in work, and it cut me up.That move and financial problems, combined with other personal losses and issues saw me diagnosed with moderate depression in 2014.

Guys on here were sound, as was mum and counselling staff, colleagues and those close, but I was messed up.The black dog walked beside me, and I still feel his breathe, but I boot his baws, and he runs away.

Anyhow, as ever I digress, ramble and rave.....


Today, look your aul mum in the eye and say thanks for everything you have done for me!
