A second 1-0 win in a row for United at Tannadice and another welcome three points to take a little bit of the pressure off as we try to secure our play-off place.

It wasn't the most inspiring performance - in fact it was an exceptionally dull game with very little happening. It was a battle from start to finish and, for the second game in a row, and arguably the second game this season, United turned up for the battle and ultimately won it.

That gives me a little bit of confidence going into the remaining games. The players seem to won't to fight for the club now - and probably they've realised that their own reputations are at stake. If you don't concede then you won't get beat and, with the introduction of Gillespie, we don't really look like getting beat. In fact the only chance Falkirk had at the weekend was late in the game when a sloppy pass back from substitute Matty Smith was intercepted by the Falkirk striker and Deniz had to be sharp off his line to block.

United didn't create much either to be honest. McMullan probed but didn't make much headway, King struggled going forward and McDonald was extremely lucky to complete 90 minutes given how ineffective he was in the number 10 position. Mikkelsen is pash but he worked the defenders and scored a good goal from close range to give United the points.

We're not quite secure for a play-off place. If we beat Brechin tomorrow night then we're nearly there, with ICT the only team who can overtake us if they win all their games. We're currently fourth, level with Dunfermline who are third and four points behind Livingston in second. I fear catching Livi is beyond us given that the games are running out but I'd like to finish third so the second leg of the first play-off is a home game.

In other news, our player of the year do was last night (far too early) and Stanton won POTY and Players POTY. Jamie Robson was YPOTY (no other options?). Flood was ArabTrust POTY. I don't think any of them should be particularly delighted about their awards since we've been pash all season.

Away from United and to reiterate what I said elsewhere, congratulations to St Mirren on their Championship win.

Meh. I've been a bit disappointed in him to be honest, he's not really stood out at all. I expected more given that he was in the Celtic team earlier in the season.

It might be our tactics but he doesn't really get forward much. Defensively he's okay I suppose but he doesn't really seem to do that much during games.
