Apparently Mousa Dembele has 1 year left on his contract this summer and is rumoured to be seeking a new deal and significant pay rise.
We can not really blame Mousa for wanting one last big contract at this stage of his career. The question is, do we sell him on this summer and bring in somewhere around £15m - £25m or give him a new contract on improved terms?
Now, I love Dembele and he has been a great servant for Spurs, but whilst he is still capable of bossing any midfield in the world he does have his injury issues and at times is incapable of playing 90 minutes or two games in a row.
Is he worth a new deal or should we let him run down his contract for one more season or move him on? Will he ever fully get over his injury issues?
Replacing him won`t be easy nor cheap, unless we unearth a bargain. I`d be tempted to keep him for one more season by which time he will be 32 years old and then let him move on a free to wherever. He can help and mentor his eventual younger replacement, assuming we won`t be replacing him with top drawer proven quality.
This is a difficult decision, one the club needs to get right.

I quite like Mawson and am pleased if we're being linked. He can be good on the ball and taking it up field from defence. Could even be moulded into a DM maybe. And he's young.

I'd be interested to know how much of it on Bertrand and how much on Mawson.
It's sort of where we are with the market though. Everyone has doubled in price from a few seasons ago.
