Fulham 2-0 Derby County-Play-off Agg 2 - 1

1945
Craven Cottage
14th May 2018

Quite simply the return.

After a intriguing and exciting first leg at PP, Derby have a slender 1-0 lead.

Will it be sufficient? It as on Friday as Derby contained (NOT defended) heroically. All the superlatives on our key players have been used and hopefully they will relevant again after the match on Tuesday.

Derby have no new injury worries but I am fearful of the toll taken on some of our big engine units on Friday. However some of their 'superstars' looked knackered.

Just go out and do it

😀

And this one?

🙄

Trust me, this one won't be as good.

Derby go into this game with best record of all the semi-finalists over the last three games. Fulham go in with a hangover created by their failure to beat Brum and secure an automatic promotion.

So, who's better? Who's best?

Looking at past play-off threads, there seems to be more of a sang froid about these games and a case of que sera, sera. We are a hardy bunch, us Derby fan folk and nothing seems to amaze us - get this, there will be a special guest poling up to the South Stand on Friday

I cannot see GR changing a winning formula/formation, so any changes will be injury forced - Olsson seems to be the one doubt.

Hoping CJ can continue his rich vein of form and BJ, well, there's no such thing as bad BJ, but let's the good BJ(s) continue.

Team news from Mojaca, who will be on here.

But we don’t want to keep Vydra, Strett...

-------------------------

So to be clear, you don't want to keep the best striker in the league?

Is it because of the looming spectre of FFP?
Is that why you 'don't want to keep Vydra'?

I would keep Vydra but it’s unlikely when we can cash in. I find it funny that people are running with this £8m fee which is completely baseless. If selling him allows Rowett to sign 2 or 3 as well as offloading other high earners, then so be it. But let’s see what actually happens instead of just speculating.

It's a shame that you have to cash-in though Tommo. How has been allowed to happen?
Was it the Clement era?
It's always the fans that suffer though.

Strett you missed the 1800 mate.

I have said for several months that I think we should sell Vydra. The reason is that I don’t think he will do what he has done this season on a regular basis and he probably is at peak value now. I was a staunch defender of him last season when he was doing nothing because I thought there was real talent there. I still think that but I think that in order for him to perform the team has to be set up in a particular way and that we would be better off not trying to play to one person’s strength. When he isn’t on song he seems to go missing.

Just my opinion and not shared by all.

Vydra Is being sold because he cannot stand negative Rowett and he’s not the only player playing for DCFC👌

I can see the negativity point.
Being told to defend sends a signal to the players that they aren’t good enough to win. I think them being told not get stuffed by too many against Wolves had a negative effect on morale which carried on into the Burton game.
We want to see them having a go and if they lose doing that then we can deal with it. They got clappped off against Boro despite losing 2-0.
But we aren’t the manager. I think if Rowett thought Fulham would over run us if we played an open game and stuck to his guns. It didn’t work but whose to say what would of.
In my opinion if a player doesn’t want to get with the program then they can do one. Rowett has showed that he is not inflexible and it was his change of tactics that turned the season round in the end and got us into the playoffs.

Rowett has brought the best out of Vydra so Vydra should thank the manager for that. I think Rowett has handled him very well. Vydra has a history of a questionable attitude so his performances this season have been a credit to both parties. If he leaves he will be likely to go to the Premiership so I would wish him well and I'm sure he wishes the same for Derby. And the more we get for him the better obviously. Our history of making profits from players signed has not been all that good in recent years.

Could see him going to Burnley.
