It was certainly unlucky tonight. The outfield players did really well, gave what they could but unfortunately, there were 2 decisive moments in the game. Salah going off and Bale's goal.
Salah going off really changed the game. The opening 30 minutes were really nervy for both sides and it was a very even game, but after Salah went off, psychologically it knocked a lot out of Liverpool and it allowed Madrid to take control of the game and that is, unfortunately, where RM are at their best.
Secondly Bale. The mistakes aside, once Liverpool got the equaliser, they had their tails up a bit more. They were pressing more and being much more aggressive. But then Bale hit that stunner and for me, I personally think that hit the team collectively more than either of the errors, simply because of how unexpected it was and how good it was. A goal worthy of winning any final.
I suppose a quick verdict on Karius is that tonight proves he isn't good enough unfortunately. Ever since his consistency in the side since the start of the year, I think he has done quite well. A couple of iffy moments, but overall, he looked like he was improving in my opinion up until tonight. His numbers read well, 16 clean sheets in 33 games and only 31 conceded this season, they are very respectable. Again though, for all those who watch Liverpool, it will be known that them stats don't really come down to him, but more the way Liverpool play and set up in games. For me, it just shows Karius' last 5 months have just been an upturn in form rather than a steady improvement and tonight proves that a top class goalkeeper is the priority in the summer.

Never rated Karius. I still think Mignolet is better. Can't understand why Ward never got a chance to play during whole season
Our 11 or just 10 outfield players are a match for any team. But our bench is a joke. Roma bench looked much better and helped them back into the both SF games. Tonight was the same. Real had Bale. We had Lallana who has looked out of form before and after hus injury. This was another factor.

Liverpool's bench would have looked weak in a League Cup game. Absolutely nobody who would make an impact and it showed.
Tonight was a step too far, credit for an excellent season but the Summer calls for a big recruitment drive for both first XI and back ups.

I totally agree! Plus how can anyone possibly use the word "unlucky" when talking about Bales first goal!
When talking "unlucky", then maybe the Salah injury, but not the other stuff.
