Mugged them right off....

A £75m deal for Mahrez to Manchester City looks to be happening as early as next week. £60m cash and £15m add ons, no swap deal for Patrick Roberts, Leicester are looking to land the player in a separate deal

With less than 2 years left on his contract I’d be delighted with this. £75m for a player who is undoubtedly the most gifted we have ever had but puts in a great performance about once every 3 games on average. The other 2 games he’s barely noticeable and also never bothers to track back or press the opposition. He’s a lazy fecker basically

Christ knows why Pep is going ahead with this, City have loads of options in those areas and Mahrez is as far away from Peps work ethic as you could get. Maybe an option of the bench but a bloody expensive one.

If Patrick Roberts is the planned replacement that would be hugely underwhelming though

I wonder what Coutinho, Silva or De Bruyne would look like in an LCFC side. How would they fare in a team where they were the main threat and got double or triple teamed every time they went near the ball?

Better than Mahrez! Listen, I’m all for agreeing that Mahrez is a top player who will thrive in a top team, but I don’t think that making comparisons to Coutinho and De Bruyne is helping the argument!

He’s obviously better than Sterling although less direct, and could improve their team and squad depth. Mahrez will be a good signing, and I think the fee represents a sensible deal for all parties.

Next question, how much will he actually play? Every game, most, a few? Be interested to see who he’ll displace and I’m actually interested to see how he does.

Hopefully he’ll be happier with his move than Drinkwater 🙃

Yep - Mersey is spot on for me. I’ve watched two defenders on Coutinho at the King Power - they couldn’t get near him. His movement was so exceptional, far better than Mahrez, he could make space for himself and even when marked, he had the skills to either beat a man nearly every time or to pass it and move.

Mahrez on the other hand will at times beat his man with an awesome bit of skill, but will also lose possession and often get dispririted if someone is on him. He’s much easier to mark out of a game and he spent almost the entirety of the 2016/17 season being invisible. Which ironically should have made it harder to man mark him.....

Mersey you must be one of the few people who can't appreciate his talent and that he would be an asset to any of the top teams in the world.
He can do things with a football that i have never seen since George best at LCFC.
He will go to better things, won't play ever week and will be a bigger star and the rest of us will appreciate for the while he was ours. Comparing him to Mr Gruppy Bo**ox Drinkwater is also unfair.

We will realise when he's gone how fortunate we were to have Mahrez for so long - a supremely gifted footballer that a club in our position only gets hold of once in a blue moon.

That being said, I'm not convinced he's consistent enough to be a regular starter for a top side like Man City. Reckon he'll be a very expensive impact sub there.

I'd say Mahrez is better than Coutinho aswell, 75 million for Mahrez is still a good deal for us considering he doesn't want to play for us.

Mahrez and Countinho don’t play the same position. So hard to compare them really.

Mahrez is quality and over the course of a season consistent attacking threat (if not every game). His tracking back and tackling has improved, he’s also good at winning it by putting opposition under pressure.

Great fit for a Man City team where he can cut in and create space for attacking full backs (little chance of this with Simpson).

Gives Man City a great option to rotate, they only need one or two of Aguero, Jesus, Sane, Mahrez, Sterling, Silva or KDB to fire and they’ll win games.

I’ll certainly be sad to see him go, shame we couldn’t build around him the last couple of years. He wouldn’t have been double marked then....

I can’t think of a wide player for any club that has been consistent throughout a season and over the course of several seasons. (Assuming Ronaldo counts as a centre forward)

That’s hardly a fair comparison, there were times in the last two seasons that our defence would have made Ade Akinbiyi look world class! 😂😂

I can 100% see his talents Nev. I don’t think I’ve disputed them have I? I’ve just said that De Bruyne and Coutinho and Silva are better!

That’s like saying Mahrez is a failure because he doesn’t stand up to maradona in his prime!

Mahrez is probably the best player I’ve seen consistently in a Leicester shirt. The only better player is Cambiasso. That’s not bad going really.

He’s still not as good as Man City and Barcelona’s best talent!!!
