doing their best to put a dampner on the World Cup being held in Russia pre tournament, it all seems to be going like a dream. No hooliganism as yet, as widely predicted by most of the media. Supporters from all nations across the globe, gathering in harmony to watch the best sporting event in the world.
All the England fans interviewed say they have been overwhelmed with the lovely welcome they have received from the Russians, and are having a great time.
Shows you how brainwashing the media and Government can be, they have probably put off a lot of decent England supporters from travelling, when the reality is you probably are going to get more problems in an English Town centre on a boozy Saturday night.
For all those out in Russia enjoy your stay, take in the culture of this great country, and hopefully England on the pitch will do us proud.
This is turning into a really good World Cup.

You're joking aren't you Sandy? Don't you remember the build up to London 2012. Every day the press were reporting how we're going to embarrass the country with things not being ready, or working etc... Then it came and it was brilliant.

I don`t remember that mate. All I remember about 2012 was all the hype how it would be the best ever. I have to admit though I don`t think I watched a minute of 2012. I went off the Olympics when professionalsm came in. Have rarely watched an Olympic event since. Too many drug cheats for me.

Very good post. There really was a lot of negativity in the media. But from the outside it just looks like it's being hosted in Germany or France.
The media do get an agenda and just run with it. I definitely got sucked into the what a horrible country Russia is.
They definitely have issues with hooligans and racism, but let's be honest what country doesn't? They have obviously made a big effort to at least prevent that at the tournament.

Media are only basing it on the reputation of some of the Russian fan base. See nothing wrong with that.
Besides from what I have heard the Russian authorities have clamped down massively and ring fenced a lot of the trouble makers which you would expect.
With massive police presence everywhere Why would Russia allow trouble when the whole world is watching
