Boateng £50m/Toby £70m

Both 29, have injury concerns and valued way too high by their clubs.

I would say Ed should be removed from negotiating transfer deals if either goes through, but honestly, we're a little too late for that.

I don't rate Boateng, to be honest. Even in the current market, I won't buy him for above £25m with so many question marks hanging over him.

I don't think we'll meet Tottenham's valuation of the player and I think both their manager and player would not mind if none happens. Levy would probably wait for a bid abroad rather than lower his value to sell to us. And even at £50m its quite high for a player who has not been in the first team for a while and big questions about his fitness.

Let's say Ed holds out against what we perceive to be (because this is obviously all subjective) inflated transfer prices slapped on any and every player we go in for.

He holds firm, unwilling to give in to demands we all agree (in our very subjective opinions) to be unacceptable.

On the other end, the selling clubs, knowing that they don't have to sell and that they are negotiating with the most valuable club on the planet sloshing with cash reserves, also refuse to sell.

In the end, we finish the summer having signed only Dalot and Fred.

Would people be happy that the club has taken a stand, held its ground and refused to be taken to the cleaners? Or will people chuck their toys out of the pram at the lack of signings, argue that we are going backwards, and demand the heads of the CEO and manager?

Alderweireld is one one the main reasons Spurs have been as good defensively as they have in recent years, Him alongside Bailly at CB would elevate Utd to another level defensively, Especially if you plant Matic in there shielding them.

_____________De Gea
Valencia Bailly Alderweireld A.Sandro
_______Fred Matic Pogba
_____Willian Lukaku Alexis

PL title winning looking team!

I really dont know why people keep saying Alderweireld has injury problems.

Me neither.. he's been injured all last season but that was one bad injury rather than a reoccurring injury.

If that happened we would see just how good Jose was as a manager.

boateng is overrated(still good tho), toby is a superior defender

Rosso, Bayern and Juventus are actively trying to sell Boateng and Sandro. That gives room for negotiations.

Boateng has had issues with his fitness and the price they are asking for would put many teams off. If we're not buying the they can either choose to keep him or sell him for less. So far, we're the only ones linked.

I personally do not want him as I've never rated him as a top top defender.

I'd rather we not buy him and have the same defenders. I'd also rather not pay £70m for Toby. If the choice is buying Boateng or Toby for the fees their club want or not buying them and going into the season with what we have, I'll go for the latter.

And if Jose is truly a great manager, he'll make it work.

Also, the point here are the two defenders, three if you include Sandro (who is not seen as important as a CB signing for Jose), not any and all players we're linked with.

Why? If that good then they wouldn’t sell.

Baoteng due to his injury and wanting to raise funds.

Sandro as he wants to leave and they also need to raise funds in order to buy.
