Stevie G's Squad.

According to reports Steven Gerrard has told Eduardo Herrera and Fabio Cardoso to leave.

Cements for me the complete uselessness of Pedro and he should go down as our worst ever manager. He didn't even make one good signing, even PLG left us with Papac

Squad itself is starting to take shape.

GK - We've 3 good goalkeepers, I would fancy McGregor as number one and expected to see Foderingham sold when i saw him coming in but noises from Fod are he's staying. Should be a good battle for the shirt.

Hopefully young Robbie McCrorie can go on loan and continue to develop because he's a future no1.

LB - We've John, Wallace, Flanagan can play there and Beerman if anyone still holds out any hope for him. I don't. Nice competition for places and one i think Flanagan will win to be first choice.

CB - Goldson seems to be the rock this defence is going to be built on, Katic i'd imagine as the preferred partner.

Gerrard is to have talks with Alves post World Cup, i would keep him around I think he adds something to us. Him and McCrorie to provide back up with Aidan Wilson about if required.

Cardoso likely to leave. I would hope we can recoup 1m as he was highly rated back in Portugal.

RB - Tavernier as first choice and Flanagan as backup. Jack is called upon can do a job too. Hodson though is still here. Surely he will leave. Please.

Central Midfield - Probably the hardest to call.

Rossiter - You would hope is over his injuries and if so seems to have the quality and drive to make one of those spots his own.

Jack - Likely to struggle for games but a decent option to have especially in a battle of a game.

McCrorie - Hope he continues to get regular games in midfield but i think they see him more as a defender. Love him in the battles and would have him on before Jack any day of the week.

Docherty - Great engine, not convinced he's got much else though. Think this could be a difficult season for him and he might end up out on loan. Though as a supposed box to box midfielder he's got one of the best at it to learn from so i hope i'm wrong and he kicks on.

Dorrans - Difficult first season but has creativity in him, would prefer to see him pushed into a role further forward as a 10 or on the wing where he made his name.

Ejaria - An attacking option from central midfield, bit of an unknown but i think he'll do well.

Halliday - Surely he'll go. Times up.

Barjonas - Never been impressed, not sure how old he is but prob a loan or let go.

Left Wingers

Murphy - Produced enough last season to justify signing him but will need to be even better this. Love him when he runs at players, i think he'll end up with a healthy goal tally.

Arfield - He's a left winger according to Transfermarkt but i think he can play anywhere in midfield. Certain he will be a hit wherever he ends up playing because of his work ethic and bit of quality

Forrester - Fatty better leave.

10s

Windass - Assuming we play with a 10, if not could do worse than use him as a striker. If he continues to improve and make more of an all round impact he could be a star. If not he could be the cause of major hair loss.

RW - Candeias is highly rated by some fans and not be others. I like him but feel he's not got much in his locker apart from complete commitment to the cause and a wicked cross. I'd hope to see someone brought in to give him a real challenge, a player that can go by a man.

Middleton, not sure how close to making an appearance he has but looks dynamite at youth levels so he'll be pushing.

FW - Morelos, needs to improve his finishing but he'll be up there in the top scorers charts again.

Herrera looks to be off, horrendous signing and never showed any glimpses of why we paid for him imo.

Need to bring in another 2 strikers in and a right wing option for me but i'm pleased at how we are starting to shape up

What are your thoughts bluenoses?

All the fans seem to want to throw away every player at the club, one of the main issues we had was not having any depth, I have no issues with our main 11 from last season but we had little in reserve.

Rangers should have 2 decent teams within their first team squad, teams you wouldn't be overly concerned if you made 11 changes for a match.

Stevie G is doing well bringing in good players and it'll be very different this season.

We still need to shift the no hopers.

Halliday, Forrester, Hodson, Herrera being the ones left.

I'd chuck Barjonas in there too but i might be being harsh

'Melted Cheese' is bringing in players he thinks will suit a certain style of play, he will find out soon enough if they can play the way he wants them to.

Patience surely has to be the key from the fans perspective, EL qualification with a new squad will be tough given how early the games come around, Pittodrie is a tough start for a team needing to gel.

The first Celtic game comes quite quickly too, will Rangers fans have patience if the team is a 5/10 after around 2/3 months?

Right now I couldn't care less about the Europa, just get the players in, structure instilled and let the games take care of themselves.

I'd be happy with getting through the current round. Anything beyond that would be nice but it will get progressively harder each time and assuming Rangers do get through I'd imagine that Rijeka are not mugs.

In the league theres a lot of football to play and time to gel and aberdeen in losing mclean and christie have big gaps to sort themselves

Daft comment ! The EL will, at least, give Gerrard more opportunity to get the team settled, provide much needed money for the club which can be reinvested in the team, give non season ticket holding supporters a chance to see the team and who knows we might even progress.
But other than that....you're right

europe takes its toll tbh that much has always been clear.

champions league is a goldmine but the europa league isnt, though rangers could probably use it.

effects league performances.

I’d be happy to see Rangers progress in Europe.

Until the group stages anyway.
