Shout out to Sterling and Southgate

I for one have been very impressed with the England set up and how they playing. If I was being critical then may be shouldn't have conceded against Panama , Tunisia and last minute against Colombia. Take the Januzaj (Belgium) goal all day long .

Now onto Sterling, if he was as bad as made out then I'd be the first to jump on the bandwagon being a Liverpool fan . Fair enough he is not clinical in front of goal , but that has never been his greatest strength. BUT WHAT DOES HE DO ?

First and foremost he fits in to this current 11 with his attributes to suit the teams needs . He stretches opposition defence by offering pace in behind with the ball but more so without the ball . Centrebacks will be mindful of his pace when they got the ball if his playing on the shoulder of the last man ,which in turn want allow them to squeeze play as much they'd like to , so winning the ball back might be that bit easier. Every now and then he'll drop deep to collect the ball which allows 2 things .1. Gives us something different from midfield running at opponents with skill and pace. 2. When dropping deep confusing the oppo defence by dragging them out , allowing Kane and more so Alli and Lingard to run into pockets of space created.

This way of playing is credited to Sothgate for creating a system to bring the best out the team not individuals . This is the first England team I've seen can play the ball out from the back and keep possession, what's been England's achiles hill in tournaments gone by.

Was not happy nor exited when the FA appointed Southgate, but pleased to say I was wrong. All in all his bought the best out of the team more so than anyone envisaged, and created the euphoria in a nation which had given up .

to Mr Southgate and his team .

Southgate has been immense. Very easy route to semi/final aside, he’s still been very, very good. Southgate.

Thought Raheem had his best game of the WC yesterday. should have scored granted but that apart he never stopped running at their defence and creating space for others.

What I like about him is he never hides and is always showing for the ball and taking people on even when he's a little off form.

He’s not played that well but still looks the biggest threat going forward.

I don’t know if Kane and Ali are carrying injuries but they look way off the pace

Stand out attacking player is Trippier, puts a lovely cross in.

Trippier has been very good. He has a face you want to punch and looks like he lives in an illegally parked caravan, but what a cross he has on him.

Yep. He protected the better than he has in the previous games, more like his club form. If anything I think hes trying too hard to get everything perfect. Nightmare for their centre backs yesterday and negated their attempted high line as the match wore on but added to the midfield when not in possession.

This , exactly. I just feel his getting way more criticism then credit. I also do feel Rashford has something to offer but not as a starter. His more of an out and out forward then Sterling and can't offer the full repotoir Raheem does for the team . Good option to have to change things if required.
